What are caster sales?

Caster sales involve the marketing and selling of casters, which are wheeled devices typically attached to the bottom of carts, furniture, and equipment to allow for easy movement. Professionals in caster sales work with manufacturers, distributors, and end-users to recommend the right caster types based on load capacity, floor conditions, and application requirements. They often provide guidance on product selection, pricing, and after-sales support, making sure customers receive the best mobility solutions for their needs.

How does the Caster Sales role typically collaborate with product engineers and customers to ensure the right solutions are provided?

In a Caster Sales position, you’ll frequently work closely with product engineers to understand the technical specifications and custom requirements for caster products. Collaborating with customers is also key, as they often have unique operational needs that require tailored solutions. You’ll serve as a liaison, communicating customer feedback and challenges to the engineering team, and ensuring that solutions meet both functional and budgetary expectations. This cross-functional teamwork helps foster strong client relationships and supports the development of high-quality, application-specific caster products.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Caster Sales professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Caster Sales professional, you need in-depth knowledge of caster products, sales techniques, and market trends, often supported by experience in industrial or equipment sales. Familiarity with CRM software, inventory management systems, and quoting tools is typically required. Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills help you connect with clients and address their unique needs. These abilities are crucial for driving sales growth, maintaining customer satisfaction, and building long-term business relationships in a competitive market.

Job description

Position Summary Foundry Sales Representative This role is a senior, foundry-focused sales position responsible for driving new business growth within import casting and grinding operations. The position is centered on expanding casting volume with U.S. OEMs and manufacturing customers and is designed for professionals who already understand foundry operations, casting processes, and the commercial realities of the casting supply chain. This is a hunter role, not account maintenance. Success depends on industry knowledge, relationship-driven selling, and the ability to operate independently across a national territory. Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop new business opportunities for import castings with OEM and industrial customers
  • Drive additional casting and grinding volume by identifying and solving foundry and production bottlenecks
  • Build and maintain relationships with OEMs, sourcing teams, and foundry partners
  • Actively prospect, qualify, and close new customers nationally
  • Promote grinding services as a value-added solution within the foundry sales process
Key Skills
  • Deep understanding of foundry operations, casting processes, and materials
  • Proven sales or business development experience within the foundry or casting industry
  • Strong relationship-building skills with OEMs, foundries, and sourcing teams
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Direct experience in the foundry or casting industry is required
  • Prior sales or business development experience related to castings, foundries, or metal components
  • Existing industry relationships strongly preferred
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Willingness to travel nationally as needed
  • This role is not suitable for candidates with only CNC machining sales experience and no foundry exposure
Location
  • Remote
  • National territory across the United States
Compensation Two compensation structures may be available depending on experience and preference:
  • Commission-only: independent sales representation, typically around 5% on casting sales
  • Employed: Base + commission structure with a modest base salary and commission in the 2% - 2.5% range
Potential to earn six figures annually
