Job Description
Provides assistance to the medical staff in the application, maintenance and removal of casts, traction and other splint or motion device as ordered. Informs patients/families, staff and students about the use and care of casts and traction devices. Shriners Portland is looking for a full time Cast Tech to join the team!
Key Responsibilities:
Performs direct and indirect patient care activities within the scope of practice of an Orthopedic Technician and the Outpatient Clinic (OPC) standards of care.
Performs casting and traction services under the direction and supervision of an Attending Orthopedic Surgeon
Demonstrates open, accurate and timely communication with patients/families and interdisciplinary team members to ensure effective therapeutic intervention. Maintains competency, adheres to standards of practice, recognizes own learning needs to maximize professional development and optimal patient care
Prepares patient for application of orthopedic devices, removes plaster/fiberglass as ordered by the physician.
Demonstrates competency in the application, removal, maintenance, modifications of cast, splints and traction.

The pay range for this position is $19.97 - $29.95. Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
