Position Summary

Responsible for the supervision and completion of the Security Department's staff assigned tasks in a timely and responsible manner.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises all aspects of daily operations of the Security Department.
  • Monitors Chinook Winds facility, property, and money handling areas, to ensure the security of customers, staff, and assets of Chinook Winds on assigned shift.
  • Provides enforcement to Chinook Winds policies, NIGC, Tribal policies, State compact, and Tribal gaming regulations.
  • Identifies and reports issues regarding security to the operations of any and all departments within Chinook Winds to the Department Director
  • Provides recommendations to Department Director regarding security department training needs.
  • Investigates complaints/concerns from guests/employees. Analyzes situation, resolves ensuring compliance with Chinook Winds policies and procedures.
  • Occasionally must physically subdue, restrain, and remove customers or employees.
  • May serve as back up to Security Director
  • Monitors & maintains general knowledge of alarm systems and reports any irregularities.
  • Transports Chinook Winds staff for drug tests.
  • Coordinates all activities of the drop functions and maintains applicable documentation for the drop.
  •  Issues/receives sensitive items including locks, keys, cards, dice, etc. and documents current inventory of each.
  • Communicates directly with various law enforcement agencies and members of management from various departments on behalf of the security department.
  • Ensures that the Security Department is in compliance with Chinook Winds policies and procedures.
  • Resolve customer complaints as needed.
  • Recommends measures for improving work procedures and worker performance to increase quality and enhance job safety.
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of goals, objectives, programs, promotions, budgets, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with Chinook Winds Casino Resort customer service standards.
  • Handles all personnel issues in a timely manner according to Chinook Winds policies and procedures.
  • Provides input or recommendations for improvements and changes in program processes or services.
  • Maintains general knowledge and provides information to guests of Chinook Winds Casino Resort events, programs, and services.
  • Manages employees during the shift and ensures appropriate professional standards of behavior, work standards, productivity, practices, and customer care are enforced. 
  • Ensures a complete knowledge by the whole team of the Security Department's policies and procedures. 
  • Maintains effective communication within the team and attends meetings and training sessions when required.
  • Assigns duties, responsibilities, and work areas to employees in accordance with work requirements.
  • Performs personnel actions such as hiring and firing staff, consulting with department management and Human Resources as necessary.
  • Develops and maintains a teamwork environment.
  • Trains employees in designated areas and monitor's progress.
  • Completes, monitors, and develops staff through evaluation and development plans.
  • Monitors staff performance to ensure Chinook Winds Casino Resort customer service standards are achieved.
  • Identifies & reports any irregular, unsafe or hazardous conditions.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education

High School Diploma or GED.

Associates or higher preferred.

Experience

One year experience in Chinook Winds Casino Resort Security operations. 

One year of supervisory experience.

Gaming supervisory experience preferred.

Computer Skills

Microsoft Office includes Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Certificates & Licenses

Must maintain a Siletz Tribal Gaming License.

Valid Oregon Driver's License.

CPR/First Aid Card certified.

Other Requirements

Demonstrated ability in the area of communication, to include shift pass down, planning, special events, and any other issues relating to the Security Department.

Demonstrated ability in report writing and report review.

Demonstrated ability in conducting confidential investigations of sensitive materials and matters.

Flexibility to handle changing priorities, schedules, and possess excellent time management skills.

Most possess the ability to quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action.

Fluent bilingual skills are desired. 

Training in defensive tactics, tactical communication, or other Security related subjects desired.

Must possess an advanced knowledge of Security Department Policies and other regulations pertaining to the Security Department.
