Job description

Starting Wage: $16.50 hour plus tips

The Security Officer 1 enforces departmental rules and policies as well as investigating criminal activities in and around the casino and tribal property to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all Tribal members, guests and Team Members.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Learns, comprehends and complies with all casino and tribal policies and procedures, MICS, gaming regulations and job requirements.
  • Participates in all assigned security operations which may rotate on a day to day basis, including special events.
  • Provides personal protection to Tribal Members, Team Members, and guests.
  • Monitors all activities for unauthorized removal of property.
  • Responds to accidents and injuries, administering first-aid as needed, and writing accurate, detailed reports in a timely manner.
  • Enforces all Tribal, City, County, State, and Federal Laws and Ordinances as applicable.
  • Inspects fire suppression equipment on a daily basis to ensure fully operational.
  • Inspects all areas for safety and fire hazards and files reports as required.
  • Maintains records regarding incidents of theft, injury, property damage etc., while protecting confidentiality.
  • Takes all necessary steps to protect tribal assets.
  • Generates written reports on all incidents as directed by the security policies and procedures.
  • Guards transfer of money and chips from casino pit to main cage.
  • Other duties as directed by management.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, Team Members may be exposed to secondhand tobacco smoke, including regular exposure for those working on the casino floor.   The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and can occasionally reach a high level for short periods of time. This position is determined to have a potential for possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND ELIGIBILITY

  • Minimum age requirement for this position is 21 years old.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1 years combined experience in Security, First Responder, EMT, Law Enforcement, Corrections, or Military or equivalent combination of training and experience preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by TRCR’s insurance agency.
  • General understanding of computer programs, including all windows applications required.
  • Must obtain and maintain current BLS, CPR and First Aid (or higher) certification within 1 year of employment.
  • Must obtain Defensive Tactics certification within 1 year of employment.
  • Good customer service, organizational and public relations skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high stress situations.
  • Ability to independently analyze, trouble shoot and resolve problems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, verbally, in writing or by other acceptable means.
  • Comply with pre-employment, random and reasonable suspicion alcohol and drug testing.
  • Receive and maintain a valid gaming license from the CTCLUSI Tribal Gaming Commission.
  • Availability to work all shifts including weekends and holidays based on the needs of the department and for special casino events.  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to exchange information efficiently using an earpiece on a multichannel radio.
  • Must be able to sit, stand and/or walk for up to 10 hours.
  • Must be able to carry, reach, twist, bend and squat frequently.
  • Must occasionally be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may be required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance as needed.
