Job description

Location: Boston, MA 02210

Type: Direct Hire/Permanent Placement

Logistics: 5 days/week on site - potential to scale back to more hybrid once acclimated!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Posts all Firm cash receipts to client/matter and general ledger accounts in the Aderant Expert time and billing system.
  • Researches and identifies all miscellaneous cash receipts.
  • Prepares and distributes daily cash receipt reports and creates ad hoc reports as needed using database software.
  • Processes all accounts receivable write offs in accordance with FPC guidelines.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service to all stakeholders, providing client account balances and various time and billing reports as requested.
  • Reconciles various general ledge accounts and provides assistance to the Client Billing Representatives.
  • Performs other duties as requested in order to ensure the timely rendering of accounting services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree (Associates/Bachelors) in Management, Finance, or related field required.
  • Experience within a Law Firm or Legal setting
  • 2+ years of applicable work experience in an accounting function preferred.
  • In lieu of work experience, the successful completion of accounting courses taken may be considered.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

 ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Exceptional organization skills, attention to detail, flexibility and reliability to set priorities, manage multiple responsibilities and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to assume responsibility for assigned tasks with follow-up and follow-through and working in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Must have strong basic math skills and have an understanding of basic accounting principles and have an aptitude for working with numbers, and the software.
  • Ability to quickly, efficiently and consistently perform accurate math calculations as would pertain to basic accounting functions and/or spreadsheet work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including good verbal skills, tact and diplomacy as well as the ability to interact positively with all types of people in all levels of business.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members as well as attorneys and staff throughout the Firm with a ‘can do’ attitude.
