The Cash Office Clerk supports daily operations of Guest Services by ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, meeting departmental goals, and addressing business needs. This role plays a key part in maintaining store profitability through accurate cash office balancing, cash management, and collaboration with the Guest Services team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cash Office Expertise: Maintain a thorough understanding of back-office software solution, cash recycler operations, register processes, and cash handling policies.
  • Balance Cash Drawers and Transactions: Ensure accuracy in balancing cash drawers, lottery transactions, and other financial areas daily with accuracy.
  • Process Financial Data: Accurately enter tender information and financial data into the system.
  • Manage Cash Office Technology: Monitor, maintain and troubleshoot the Cash Recycler Machine and other cash office equipment to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Maintain Inventory: Order necessary supplies and cash to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Identify and Report Discrepancies: Recognize and report discrepancies and suspicious activities to store management or through the CORE Security Platform.
  • Deliver Exceptional Customer Service: Be helpful, provide helpful solutions and ensure a positive experience for all guests and associates.
  • Communication: Answer inquiries via phone and in-person, while following proper phone etiquette and service standards.
  • Collaborate with the Team: Work closely with the Guest Services team to support both departmental and guest needs, and collaborate with other store associates and leaders to enhance overall store operations.
  • Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean, organized, and secure workspace in compliance with safety standards.
  • Honor Commitments: Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice for schedule adjustments when necessary.
  • Support the Team: Perform other duties as assigned. Ability to assist in other areas of the Guest Services Department as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • High School Education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience in cash handling, financial reconciliation, balancing registers or retail experience is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling and data entry.
  • Ability to use point-of-sale systems, bookkeeping software and cash management tools, and process information/merchandise through register system.
  • Basic technical proficiency and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues, with willingness to learn and ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with associates, leaders, and guests.
  • Ability to remain calm and handle difficult situations effectively.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with ability to read, count, and write accurately.
  • Ability to multitask and adhere to deadlines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and work environment described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

  • The associate must possess the ability to continuously move around the cash recycler, cash office, registers, walk in the store; bend, stoop and kneel regularly.  Requires fine finger and broad manual dexterity, and eye-hand-foot coordination to operate equipment. 
  • Physical ability to sit for 2-3 hours.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and to move and handle cash trays, cash and coin delivery, boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting, and perform all functions as set forth above.
  • Standing for long periods (up to 80%) and some lifting may be required.
  • Ability to work early mornings with varied hours/days including weekends, and holidays, as needed.
