Interns typically assist with client assessments, documentation, planning, and follow-up, gaining practical experience in helping individuals access resources and support. What types of cases and client populations will I typically support during a case management internship?

During a Case Management Internship, you can expect to work with diverse client populations such as individuals experiencing homelessness, families in crisis, youth, older adults, or people with mental health or substance use challenges. The specific cases you handle will depend on the agency’s focus, but interns are commonly involved in client intake, needs assessments, resource referrals, and follow-up support. You'll likely collaborate closely with social workers, healthcare providers, and community resource organizations. This exposure provides valuable hands-on experience in client advocacy, interagency communication, and practical problem-solving.
