Job Title: Clinical Counseling Intern Weekly Stipend (Non-Profit)

Reports To: Approved Clinical Supervisor Status: Intern

Company Summary: Crossroads is an Arizona Department of Health Services licensed substance abuse treatment provider with proven expertise in serving men, women, and Veterans with Substance Use Disorder through the provision of high quality, successful, and affordable residential and outpatient recovery programs.


Due to federal contracts the following items are prohibited: Medical/Recreational marijuana, current parole, or probation.


Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of AZ Board of Behavioral Health Examiners approved Clinical Supervisor; the Clinical Intern actively participates in all aspects of clinical intake process, including but not limited to comprehensive biopsychosocial and placement assessments necessary to fulfill educational requirements.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Essential Functions:

  • Conducts all aspects of clinical duties including, but not limited to intake, orientation, client file creation, and maintenance.
  • Participates in individual counseling, client psychoeducation, and other elements of care.
  • Engage in at least one hour of weekly supervision with Clinical Site Supervisor.
  • Documents assessments, treatment plan, discharge plan, and all pertinent service delivery notes applicable to organizational practices.
  • Facilitate program curriculum, group, and individual sessions as required.
  • Compose and type routine correspondence, make copies, and file material, as needed.
  • Discuss issues regarding program requirements and/or conflicts with clients.
  • Assist clients in completing applications for government assistance, handling legal issues, and referrals to independent agencies (case management).
  • Observe and enforce internal policies and procedures and behavioral health licensure, local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties, as required.

Qualifications:

  • Current CPR/First Aid/Narcan training.
  • Current and annual negative TB Test.
  • Current and valid Fingerprint Clearance Card preferred.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check performed annually and upon hire, preferred.
  • Successfully pass a background check and an Arizona Department of Health Services Adult Protective Services check.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact effectively with internal and external audiences.
  • Must maintain high ethical standards and demonstrate sound judgment, problem solving skills, and strong organizational skills.

Education & Experience:

  • Current enrollment in a Master's Degree program at an accredited college or university requiring internship to satisfy graduate degree requirements.

Work Environment:

  • Fast paced behavioral health setting.
  • Primarily indoors, however, some outdoor
    work may be requested.


Physical Demands:

  • While performing job duties, the employee is regularly required to sit and speak or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and seldom lift and/or move >100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


Shift Requirements:

  • Days, nights, weekends, and holidays.


Travel:

  • Valid AZ Driver's License.
  • May include travel between sites and other locations.
  • Local and statewide travel when requested or required.
