Job description

JOB SUMMARY The Carver County Attorney's Office is looking for someone who values meaningful public service and the opportunity to collaborate with other dedicated professionals solving complex issues. Under the direction of the Civil Division Manager, the Assistant County Attorney or Senior Assistant County Attorney is responsible for providing legal services and representing the County, State or local municipalities in a wide variety of civil matters. Duties include providing legal advice and training to county divisions/employees/officials; conducting legal research; evaluating, preparing, and presenting cases in legal proceedings including motions, hearings, trials and appeals; and preparing and drafting legal documents.

This position will provide essential support to the Public Works Division and the Parks Department, allowing planned projects to progress on schedule. Assistant County Attorney - click here to review job description and pay range Senior Assistant County Attorney - click here to review job description and pay range MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Assistant County Attorney: Juris Doctoral degree in law from an accredited law school A valid Minnesota Driver's License or evidence of mobility A valid license to practice law in the State of MN Must be able to successfully pass Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check, including CJIS fingerprinting. Senior Assistant County Attorney: Juris Doctoral degree in law from an accredited law school Five (5) years of experience as an Assistant County Attorney or equivalent experience as a practicing attorney A valid Minnesota Driver's License or evidence of mobility A valid license to practice law in the State of MN Must be able to successfully pass Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check, including CJIS fingerprinting.

SCORED EXAMINATION PROCESS All applications will be screened for minimum qualifications, scored and ranked. The highest ranked candidates meeting minimum qualifications will be recommended for the scored oral examinations (interviews). Final selection for the position will include successful completion of oral interview(s), reference checks, and background investigation, including CJIS fingerprinting.
