Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Production Manager at our Toronto manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for the safe, accurate and timely fulfillment of customer orders while adhering to Company’s guiding principles and value of order. Production manager oversees and facilitates production activities and supervises all hourly employees in the assigned department.

Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. As the Production Manager (Bedding) you will be expected to:

  • Manage the work of the department supervisor.
  • Manage and supervise all hourly employees, visitors, and contractors working in the assigned department and/or area of responsibility; also, when working outside of regular hours, on weekends, and holidays.

Your additional responsibilities as Production Manager will include:

  • Responsible for the completion of all production activities in the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Collaborate with senior management to ensure timely achievement of the goals set for each year.
  • Train, coach, and mentor supervisors and all hourly employees.
  • Monitor and evaluate performance of all direct reports.
  • Liaise with Maintenance Manager to ensure timely completion of the PMs.
  • Lead investigations of all internal and external complaints.
  • Adhere to and enforce health and safety rules and protocols.
  • Conduct production floor survey and ensure bottlenecks removal.
  • Manage department consumables.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the assigned CSR.
  • Enforce quality program standards and records keeping requirements.
  • Prepare operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities.
  • Ensure productivity levels and all operational objectives are met.
  • Review and track inventory of materials.
  • Maintain production reports.
  • Develop and/or revise SOPs and safe work protocols.
  • Conduct periodic observations in the work areas to enforce health & safety standards.
  • Review and approve personnel time records on a daily basis.
  • Use Kaizen continuous improvement methods to achieve goals.
  • Monitor and maintain SAP production reports.
  • Promote and maintain the value of order philosophy and activities.
  • Maintain applied knowledge of company's H&S management system.
  • Maintain applied knowledge of company's Quality management system.
  • Maintain applied knowledge of relevant SAP transactions.
  • Participate in new hires selection process.
