Crew Leader/Lead Carpenter -- Residential Renovations


Location: Vaughan, ON, with work performed on residential renovation job sites across the Greater Toronto Area.

The Site Leader is the day-to-day leader on the job site. You will follow detailed drawings, schedules, and project documentation while keeping the site clean, safe, organized, and moving forward. You will also communicate with clients, coordinate trades, order materials, and ensure the finished work meets SOSNA's standards for quality and care. For the right person, this role offers more than steady work. SOSNA supports growth through coaching, training, and leadership mentoring. Experienced Site Leaders who enjoy improving systems, developing people, and creating calm on complex projects may have opportunities to grow into broader construction leadership roles. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on renovation work Monday to Friday, typically 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with occasional extended hours as needed.
  • Lead and supervise carpenters, helpers, and subcontractors on-site.
  • Read and follow drawings, specifications, scopes of work, schedules, and project documents.
  • Maintain the job schedule and keep the project moving on or ahead of plan.
  • Coordinate daily tasks and hold team members accountable for quality and timelines.
  • Order standard materials, plan deliveries, and reduce unnecessary trips for supplies.
  • Communicate clearly with the Project Manager, clients, trades, and team members.
  • Keep clients informed about progress, delays, schedule changes, and site activity.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, protected, and professional job site every day.
  • Inspect subcontractor work and report issues immediately.
  • Protect the client's home, belongings, finishes, and overall renovation experience.
  • Follow company policies, job site safety rules, change order procedures, and closeout processes.
  • Be the on-site leader responsible for workmanship, safety, security, tools, and daily site order.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of carpentry experience in residential renovation or remodeling preferred.
  • Strong, rough, and finish carpentry skills.
  • Solid understanding of residential construction methods, sequencing, and building systems.
  • Experience supervising small crews, helpers, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work consistently and efficiently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and pride in high-quality workmanship.
  • Organized, punctual, detail-oriented, and reliable.
  • Positive attitude and genuine passion for building and renovating homes.
  • Ability to communicate respectfully with clients, trades, and team members.
  • Able to use a smartphone for text, photos, email, and job communication.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Reliable vehicle and essential hand/power tools required.
  • 10+ years of residential remodeling experience in Canada strongly preferred.
  • Professional English communication skills preferred for client and team communication. 

Pay and Benefits

  • Full-time employment
  • Pay: CA$75,000-CA$90,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Vehicle allowance or reimbursed vehicle expenses are provided according to company policy. 
  • Gas, travel time, and vehicle use are covered according to company policy.
  • Bonus opportunities for outstanding work.
  • Overtime compensation provided in accordance with applicable employment standards. 
  • Monday to Friday daytime schedule.
