Both roles focus on teaching carpentry skills but may differ in setting and certification requirements. Carpentry Instructors often work in specialized training centers, while Carpentry Teachers are more common in high school or general education environments. Understanding these differences helps in choosing the right career path or educational focus.
Carpentry instructors teach students the basics on how to shape and prepare wood products for use. As a carpentry instructor, your lesson plans include how to prep materials, using a variety of tools safely and efficiently, such as skill saws, drills, and sanders, and collaborating with a building team to ensure the product meets specifications. You typically find carpentry instructors at vocational schools, community colleges, and job placement organizations.
