The main difference between a Carpenters Helper and a Carpenter is the level of skill and responsibility. Carpenters Helpers assist carpenters with basic tasks and require minimal training, while Carpenters are skilled tradespeople capable of performing complex carpentry work. Helpers typically support the work process, gaining experience to become carpenters themselves.
A carpenter helper assists a journeyman or master carpenter with various tasks involving new construction, remodeling, or damage repair. As a carpenter helper, you work both in homes and outside on construction sites, using many types of hand and power tools. Duties include completing basic demolition, cleaning up and preparing work sites, delivering materials, and setting up ladders and temporary structures. Your responsibilities also include removing, replacing, and installing doors, trim, baseboards, cabinets, flooring, windows, bathroom vanities, and more. You also measure, mark, and hold timbers and paneling in place for the carpenter to fasten or cut.

Description
The Carpenter is responsible for performing skilled carpentry work in the repair, restoration, and preservation of commercial and residential properties damaged by water, fire, vehicle impact, and other building disasters. This role requires consistent use of high-level carpentry techniques, adherence to safety standards, effective time management, and the ability to handle emergency on-call duties with professionalism and efficiency. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to delivering high-quality results.
Requirements
Job Knowledge and Technical Skills
Perform carpentry tasks, including but not limited to demolition framing, drywall, flooring, cabinetry, millwork installation, and exterior finishes in a workman like manner.
Identify and use appropriate tools, equipment, and materials for various carpenter tasks.
Apply carpentry techniques to address structural damage.
Execute repairs according to engineering and design specifications.
