Job description

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Short Block Operator on 2nd shift [typically 3:30pm to 12am] at our Lakeland, Florida foam manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for operating machinery used in the foam manufacturing process, and operating a forklift to move foam buns throughout the warehouse. The Short Block Operator is responsible for meeting production and quality standards for the department. The pay rate for this position is $17.90 to $18.49.

Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. The successful candidate will be expected to communicate both verbally and in writing with the department supervisor and team lead. This position will require the safe operation of a forklift along with computer use.

Additional responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Perform length, thickness, and width quality checks with a tape measure.
  • Maintain efficient operation of the chop saw to include cutting foam slabs to proper length.
  • Identify and report conditions to supervisor or team lead that may affect the operation of the chop saw.
  • Must be able to read and understand cutting programs.
  • Perform length, thickness, and width quality checks with a tape measure.
  • Work Safely in a fast-paced environment

Skills/ Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree Required.
  • Basic Computer experience required and SAP preferred.
  • Forklift Experience required
