Be the Consummate Host by leading a team of security personnel in monitoring passenger and crew activities, investigating security matters that arise, and promptly reporting and correcting security issues in order to maintain a safe and secure shipboard environment in line with the Company's Core Values.
  • Efficiently manages gangway operations including (but not limited to) access control, screening of all personnel wishing to board the vessel for prohibited items, proper relief/rotation of staff, and efficient/effective operations including line management.
  • Efficiently coordinates security operations with outside agencies and promptly completes Declarations of Security as required by the ISPS Code.
  • Effectively and efficiently supervises set up, calibration, operation, and maintenance of all onboard security-related equipment in accordance with manufacturers'/Company requirements.
  • Effectively and efficiently supervises operation and maintenance of security CCTV system in accordance with manufacturers'/Company requirements.
  • Ensures compliance with ISPS, Company and Carnival Corporate Security Standards at all times.
  • Willingly assists the Staff Captain with efficient operation of the master key system on board.
  • Oversees continual training of the security team in "Security Team" procedures, exercises, drills, and any other security requirements ensuring compliance with international and Company regulations. Provides and supervises training of all crew members designated to act as Shell Door Sentries.
  • Effectively and efficiently manages authorized visitor access to the ship, including identification, confirmation of business, and issuance of visitor passes.
  • As detailed by applicable policy, reviews and promptly makes necessary entries in the Security SharePoint site or other designated information repository, and Event Reporting System(as appropriate) based on occurrences.
  • Ensures that security equipment is properly managed and maintained and that inventory reports are up to date and accurate
Staff Development and Management
  • Knows teams role descriptions, delivers them to all team members(new joiners, returning crew, and promoted crew), and communicates clear expectations based on each role description.
  • Promptly completes performance appraisals that are fair, objective, and accurate measurements based on observed behavior.
  • Observes each crewmember's performance using his or her role description as a guide and delivers prompt and appropriate correction, improvement, ore reinforcement. Coaches and develops skilled, engaged team members to become the Consummate Host.
  • Identifies top performers and mentors them for career advancement or promotion.
  • Promotes continuous training for security program in accordance with the ISPS Code, the Cruise Vessel Safety and Security Act of2010 (CVSSA), Corporate and Company requirements.
  • Ensures that the training and development needs of the security team are always properly understood, recorded in MAPS, and met.
  • Effectively communicates security strategies, philosophies and objectives to staff.
  • Accountable for all aspects of safety, security, welfare and discipline of assigned staff.
  • Meets with direct reports, at a minimum monthly, to build trust and establish effective relationships, identify personal development and career goals, discuss specific operational business issues, and create a proactive line of communication.
  • Ensures compliance with MLC Hours of Rest guidelines at all times.

Safety and Compliance
  • Verifies that all subordinates are in compliance with USPH, safety, fleet, and environmental regulations and other applicable internal, external, and governmental regulations at all times.
  • Willingly supports the coordination of onboard resources and responses in case of increased sanitation levels driven by any out break situations.
  • Willingly works with management to promptly schedule safety and compliance-related meetings and training needs.
  • Oversees strict adherence to applicable Deck Policies &Procedures, verifying that all appropriate staff is aware of updates.
  • Always follows correct timekeeping procedures and reviews, maintains, and manifests accurate MLC Hours of Rest records.

Minimum five years security experience required
Law Enforcement and/or related Military, Maritime or other Government or Private Sector (criminal) investigative experience required 
Experience in conducting (criminal) investigations, interviews, report writing, crime scene preservation etc. required
