Help Children Start and End Their Day Safely and Successfully

At the Carmen B. Pingree Autism Center of Learning, Drivers play an important role in helping children with autism feel safe, supported, and cared for during transportation to and from the program. This role is more than driving — it’s about creating a calm, positive environment, building trust with clients, and helping children transition successfully between home and school each day. Drivers work closely with staff to support safety, consistency, and positive experiences for every child. At Valley Behavioral Health, we value compassion, teamwork, and creating meaningful connections that help both clients and staff thrive.


Pay: Range starts at $16.50/hour (pay is calculated based on years of related experience)


Schedule:

  • Part Time | 25 hours/week
  • Bus Schedule | Mon-Thurs 7:00am-9:30am & 2:00pm-4:30pm | Friday 7:00am-9:30am & 11:00am-1:30pm*

*Additional Opportunity: available part time openings as an Autism Aide/Driver for a total of 29hrs/week if interested

Job Summary

The Driver ensures the safe and efficient transport of clients to and from Valley locations. The Driver is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and cleanliness of agency vehicles.


Essential Functions

  • Complies with all safety policies and procedures while operating the vehicle
  • Transports clients to and from Valley locations
  • Documents services provided to clients as required
  • Coordinates with and supports employees who accompany clients and assists with behavior management on the vehicle
  • Performs routine maintenance as required and maintains interior and exterior vehicle cleanliness
  • Follows emergency procedures and reports incidents as required
  • Maintains required transportation records
  • Participates in ongoing professional development activities to meet licensure, certification, and/or other agency requirements
