Job description

Journey with us! Combine your career goals and sense of adventure by joining our exciting team of employees. Royal Caribbean Group is pleased to offer a competitive compensation and benefits package, and excellent career development opportunities, each offering unique ways to explore the world.
We are proud to be the vacation-industry leader with global brands - including Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Silversea Cruises - the most innovative fleet and private destinations, and the best people. Together, we are dedicated to turning the vacation of a lifetime into a lifetime of vacations for our guests.
The Royal Caribbean Group's Global E-Commerce Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Engineering Manager reporting to the Engineering Director.
The position is onsite and based in Miami, Florida.
The position is also not eligible for work authorization sponsorship.
Position Summary
We're building new digital customer experiences powered by the latest AI innovations - and we're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the team behind them.
You'll be hands-on enough to make the architectural calls, write the spec when it matters, and review the PRs that decide the shape of the work - and grounded enough as a leader to coach a senior bench, set the engineering bar, and make the trade-offs that keep us shipping.
This isn't a research team. It isn't a chatbot. It's a production engineering team building real systems for real customers in a complex, regulated environment, with the autonomy to make the right technical decisions and the support to execute them.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of senior engineers building new digital customer experiences powered by the latest AI innovations - set direction, unblock, mentor, and grow the bench.
  • Make the architectural decisions that matter most: where to apply AI versus deterministic logic, how systems should be evaluated and monitored over time, what to build versus buy, and how the work integrates cleanly into a complex enterprise environment.
  • Set the engineering bar - spec-driven development, eval-led iteration, modern AI-assisted workflows, and the kind of rigor that lets us ship non-deterministic systems with confidence.
  • Partner closely with product, design, data, and security to deliver experiences our guests actually love.
  • Recruit, grow, and retain a team of senior engineers who operate at that bar without being micromanaged.
  • Translate cleanly between senior leadership and hands-on engineering - adjusting register without losing substance in either direction.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
  • 7+ years building production software, including time as an individual contributor at the senior or staff level, and several years leading engineering teams.
  • Demonstrable production experience shipping AI agents - systems that reason, call tools, retrieve from knowledge sources, and improve through eval-driven iteration. POCs and demos don't count; a portfolio of real eval design is worth more than a list of frameworks on a résumé.
  • Strong opinions on agentic system design: when an LLM call is the right answer and when it isn't; when to add a tool versus compose a sub-agent; how memory should flow across sessions; where deterministic logic earns its place inside a probabilistic system; how cost, latency, and quality trade against each other.
  • Hands-on with modern agentic frameworks (LangGraph, Anthropic SDK, OpenAI Agents, or equivalents) and adjacent patterns: MCP, RAG, vector stores, structured outputs, prompt caching, and modern eval tooling.
  • Production engineering depth: Python and/or TypeScript, distributed systems, cloud platforms (AWS preferred), CI/CD, observability, and secure development practices in a SOX-regulated environment.
  • Track record managing in fast-paced, complex organizations where the right answer changes and the bar for delivery doesn't.
  • Exceptional communication - comfortable with executive and engineering audiences, technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • High ownership, low ego, strong tolerance for ambiguity. Coaches and grows talent rather than gatekeeping it.
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required; Master's preferred.

Agency and Third-Party Submissions: Please note this is a direct search by the Company, and applications through agencies and other third parties will not be accepted, nor will fees be paid for unsolicited resumes. Any unsolicited resumes will be considered the Company's property.
We know there's a lot to consider. As you go through the application process, our recruiters will be glad to provide guidance, and more relevant details to answer any additional questions. Thank you again for your interest in Royal Caribbean Group. We'll hope to see you onboard soon!
It is the policy of the Company to ensure equal employment and promotion opportunity to qualified candidates without discrimination or harassment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, sexuality, gender identity or expression, marital status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
