The Royal Caribbean Group's Global Information Technology Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Lead Engineer, Solution Architecture and Engineering reporting to the Senior Manager, Solution Engineering.

This position is onsite and will be based in Miramar, Florida.

This position is also not eligible for work authorization sponsorship.

Position Summary:

The Lead Engineer, Solution Architecture and Engineering reports to the Senior Manager, Solution Architecture & Engineering and serves as a technical leader across Infrastructure & Operations. This role drives the design, selection, and implementation of modern infrastructure solutions across the Royal Caribbean technology portfolio.  As a hands-on engineering leader, the Lead Engineer owns solutions end-to-end-from discovery and architecture through deployment and operational readiness-working closely with infrastructure teams, product owners, enterprise architects, and operations engineers. The role requires deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), infrastructure automation, container platforms, and DevOps practices, with a strong focus on building secure, scalable, and cost-effective solutions aligned to business outcomes. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Solution Architecture & Engineering Leadership

  • Design and deliver infrastructure solutions across Royal Caribbean Group's enterprise technology landscape
  • Act as solution owner from project inception through production delivery
  • Lead technical discovery sessions to translate business requirements into robust, scalable technical designs
  • Drive standardization, best practices, and reusable design patterns across infrastructure domains

 

Cloud & Infrastructure Engineering

  • Architect and implement cloud-native and hybrid infrastructure solutions across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP
  • Design and deploy compute, storage, networking, and platform services with a security-first mindset
  • Partner with specialized infrastructure teams to deliver integrated solutions spanning:
    • End-user computing
    • Cloud platforms
    • Networking
    • Databases and middleware
    • Enterprise applications

 

Automation, DevOps & Platform Enablement

  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, Ansible, ARM templates, and CloudFormation
  • Implement and enhance CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure provisioning and updates
  • Automate operational processes including:
    • Scaling
    • Monitoring and alerting
    • Patch and configuration management
  • Deploy and operate containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes

 

Delivery, Risk & Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate solution delivery across multiple infrastructure teams to ensure aligned execution
  • Provide clear, regular status updates to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate technical risks and cross-team dependencies
  • Ensure solutions adhere to governance, security, compliance, and FinOps standards

 

Innovation & Talent Development

  • Lead hands-on R&D and proof-of-concept efforts to evaluate emerging technologies
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers on cloud platforms, automation, and DevOps best practices
  • Serve as a thought leader in modern infrastructure engineering and platform design

Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering or related technology roles

 

Technical Expertise

  • Deep expertise in at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP); multi-cloud experience preferred
  • Strong proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools:
    • Terraform
    • Ansible
    • CloudFormation
    • ARM Templates
  • Experience with database platforms, middleware, and enterprise workloads
  • Strong understanding of DevOps practices and platform automation

 

Tools & Platforms

  • CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, and ArgoCD
  • Docker and Kubernetes for containerized workloads
  • Monitoring, logging, and cloud-native operational tooling

 

Leadership & Strategic Skills

  • Strong technical leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to facilitate collaboration across engineering, operations, and architecture teams
  • Experience designing holistic, scalable solutions that align with long-term enterprise strategy
  • Solid understanding of:
    • IT governance frameworks
    • Security and compliance best practices
    • FinOps principles and cloud cost optimization
