Job Description:

Staff VP, Carelon Health Strategy and Transformation
Location: May be located in any Elevance Health PulsePoint office preferably in Indianapolis, IN, Atlanta, GA, Mason, OH, Hanover, MD, Richmond, VA, Norfolk, VA or Woodland Hills, CA.
This role requires associates to be in-office at least 3 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. Alternate locations may be considered. Please note that per our policy on hybrid/virtual work, candidates not within a reasonable commuting distance from the posting location(s) will not be considered for employment, unless an accommodation is granted as required by law.
Summary
The Staff VP, Carelon Health Strategy and Transformation will come in to assess and recommend across all health and clinical operations-conducting a rigorous, fact-finding assessment and delivering the recommendations that follow. They will examine how the organization actually works, surface root causes and performance gaps, and translate what they learn into clear findings and recommendations that drive better member outcomes, strengthen the provider and customer experience, and optimize the total cost of care. Partnering across Clinical, Operations, Digital, Technology, Product, and Business leaders, they will redesign care models and advance a whole-person, health-forward approach to care.
Position Responsibilities
  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current health organization that includes structure, roles, governance, decision rights, and operating model.
  • Recommend and design the future state
  • Partner with Human Resources on organizational design, leadership capabilities, staffing models, and workforce planning
  • Ensure the health strategy supports integrated physical, behavioral and social healthcare
  • Develop strategies to improve cost trends, reducing avoidable admissions, ED utilization, readmissions, and unwarranted variation while maintaining or improving quality
  • Partner with Finance, Actuarial, Medical Economics, and Analytics to evaluate drivers of health spend and govern cost-of-care initiatives
  • Assess provider network adequacy and performance and advance value-based care and innovative reimbursement models
  • Simplify workflows, reduce administrative burden, and standardize best practices across markets and business segments
  • Establish a Carlon health performance framework with standardized quality measures, reporting, and regulatory and accreditation compliance
  • Serve as executive clinical advisor, build alignment across executive stakeholders, and lead organizational change management
  • Establish governance and an executive steering committee and deliver measurable improvements in outcomes, experience, efficiency, and cost of care

Position Requirements
Requires a BA/BS degree in a related field and a minimum of 10 years of leadership experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences
  • Experience leading large-scale health organizational assessment and transformation, including operating model and governance redesign
  • Deep clinical background in health strategy and care model design, grounded in evidence-based, measurement-based care
  • Track record improving cost of care-reducing avoidable admissions, ED utilization, and unwarranted variation while protecting quality
  • Experience shaping provider network strategy, value-based care, and innovative reimbursement models
  • Proven operational excellence, streamlining workflows and standardizing best practices across markets and segments
  • Expertise establishing enterprise quality and outcomes frameworks with regulatory and accreditation compliance
  • Executive presence to advise senior leaders, align stakeholders, and lead organizational change management
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred.

Corporate Title: Staff VP Strategy & Planning
For candidates working in person or virtually in the below location(s), the salary* range for this specific position is $195,280.00 to $351,504.00.
