Job description

At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in Murrieta, CA! About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you'll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Murrieta, CA

Details:

  • In-Person Tutoring in Murrieta, CA
  • Schedule: 15 hours a month; 3x a week at 1 hr 15mins
  • Pay ranges from $25-$35 per hour

Ideal Candidate:

  • Teaching credential required
  • Extensive experience working with students with Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, and complex learning needs
  • Strong background in special education, particularly with nonverbal learners and students functioning significantly below grade level
  • Experienced in teaching foundational literacy, foundational math, and functional academic skills
  • Skilled in implementing behavior intervention strategies and positive behavior supports
  • Comfortable working with students who exhibit sensory-seeking behaviors, elopement, self-injurious behaviors, and other moderate to severe behavioral challenges
  • Knowledge of alternative communication methods and experience supporting students with limited verbal communication
  • Patient, calm, and highly structured in approach
  • Able to adapt instruction using visual supports, hands-on activities, repetition, and multisensory learning techniques
  • Strong lesson-planning and progress-monitoring skills
  • Familiarity with collaborating alongside speech and occupational therapy goals is highly preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy, foundational math, and functional academic skills
  • Teach sight word recognition, vocabulary development, early reading skills, and reading comprehension using evidence-based instructional strategies
  • Support foundational math concepts including number recognition, counting, basic operations, and functional math applications
  • Develop engaging, hands-on lessons tailored to the student's developmental and academic needs
  • Utilize visual supports, manipulatives, repetition, and sensory-friendly teaching strategies to increase engagement and learning
  • Implement structured routines, behavior supports, and de-escalation strategies to maintain a safe and productive learning environment
  • Support communication development by responding appropriately to the student's alternative communication methods and cues
  • Incorporate sensory accommodations, movement breaks, and preferred activities into sessions as needed
  • Collaborate with caregivers and align instructional strategies with existing speech and occupational therapy supports
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional plans based on ongoing assessment and observation
  • Foster independence, engagement, and confidence through consistent, individualized instruction
