Job description

Inova Loudoun Hospital is looking for a dedicated Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist 2 (IR Technologist) to join the team. This role will be full-time day shift from Monday - Friday 4-10-hour shifts/ 5-8-hour shifts. Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance eligible.

Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist 2 (IR Technologist) Job Responsibilities: 

  • The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist 2 provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice while serving as a resource, preceptor, and mentor.
  • Uses standards and guidelines for cost-effective care delivery while incorporating data and information to continuously improve care and practice to enhance outcomes.
  • Provides safe and therapeutic care in a holistic and caring way while incorporating differences into the provision of care. 
  • Participates in the planning of routine transitional health care needs (e.g. treatment options).
  • Assists the physician with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cath lab with the preparation of the sterile field, selection and preparation of instruments and supplies, manipulation of cardiac catheters, guidewires etc. and injection of contrast media. 
  • Administers medications, including moderate sedation, as directed by the physician.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing -OR graduate of an accredited School of Cardiovascular Technology -OR Radiology Technology or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience: One year of experience in interventional Cardiac Cath Lab or Electrophysiology Lab performing Cardio Invasive Specialist duties or equivalent years of experience as a nurse working in a critical care hospital unit.
  • Certification:
    • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association required upon start.
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support from the American Heart Association required upon start. 
    • Registered in one of the below, unless a graduate of an accredited school of nursing: 
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
  • Radiologic Technologist Vascular Interventional Radiology (RTR VI)
  • Radiologic Technologist Cardiovascular (RTR CV) 
  • Radiologic Technologist Cardiovascular Interventional (RTR CI) required. 
  • License: If doesn't possess one of the above registries, must be licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse.
