Job description

Inova Fairfax Medical Campus - Adult Echo Lab is looking for a dedicated Cardiac Sonographer Lead to join the Inova Fairfax Medical Center Echo Lab is an advanced echo imagining center with a strong emphasis on clinical excellence, education, innovation, and research. Our lab is nationally accredited through the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission and is comprised of over 22 sonographers and 25 physicians who support our award-winning clinical programs and hospital.

The lab has a full fleet of updated Philips machines with advanced 3D and strain imaging technology available and offers regular educational opportunities to assist in developing your knowledge and skill set. Cardiovascular Sonographers also teach cardiology fellows and sonography students. Career development is offered through a clinical ladder. Please apply to join our highly skilled team! Cardiovascular Sonographer Lead Responsibilities:

  • Communicates effectively with patients to obtain clinical history/informed consent from the patients or patients' charts to assist the physician in optimizing the performance and interpretation of the examination, as evidenced by the exam results.
  • Assists the physician in performing a variety of examinations using standard department protocols, isolation precautions and/or sterile technique, as evidenced by Physician's satisfaction.
  • Responsible to effectively onboard, train, mentor, and coach echocardiographers through partnerships with the department leaders 
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and takes appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcome, as evidence by exam results and patient satisfaction.

 
Cardiovascular Sonographer Lead Additional Requirements:

  • Certification - Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer AARDMS Registered with RDCS Certification or CCI Registered with Certification for Vascular. BLS, RCS Certification for Echo, or ARDMS with RVT or CCI with the RVS Upon Start; Basic Life Support Upon Start 
  • Licensure - None required
  • Experience - Five years' experience in a hospital/healthcare environment in the performance of cardiac or vascular sonography.
  • Education - Other Sonography Graduate of an accredited school/program of diagnostic medical setting sonography or five years of specialized training
