Job description

This individual is responsible for safely leading members in a group setting through predetermined exercise formats created to enhance overall fitness, strength and endurance. Classes may include various strength or cardio formats, Pilates, dance, etc. depending on current trends and needs. Candidates who can teach a variety of formats are preferred. The group exercise instructor will also serve as a resource to educate members on various aspects of fitness.
Schedule: Teach cardio & amp; strength (HIIT, Body Sculpt, etc.) Wednesday mornings at 7am. There will be more opportunities to pick up more classes as we head into Fall.
Group Exercise Instructor Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan various engaging routine, music, and movements depending upon type of class to educate and motivate participants.
  • Instruct with a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and capabilities.
  • Motivate members to attend class.
  • Teach assigned classes on time and take ownership for covering classes with an appropriate substitute when absent.
  • Prepare fitness space for the class and restore space to original state after class.
  • Proactively communicate schedule changes to members.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and teamwork approach.
  • Adhere to company purpose and core values.
  • Comply with all Cooper and Client policies.
  • Attend work onsite in a timely and consistent manner.

Requirements
The ideal Group Exercise Instructor will possess:
  • A nationally recognized certification such as ACE or AFAA in group exercise.
  • Good communication, leadership and technical skills in leading group classes.
  • 2 or more years experience leading a variety of class formats preferred.
  • Current CPR/AED certification.
