Job Description
Job Title: Painter Helper

Position Summary: Provide labor to assist daily operations focused in the paint department. Opportunity may be available to train to become an Industrial Painter.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 3:30 pm (every other Friday off)
Essential Functions. Other Duties as Assigned.
  • Prepare equipment to be painted by cleaning, washing, applying caulk, taping, masking, wiping, vacuuming, hanging, etc.
  • Lift and hang pieces on a rack to be cleaned and painted.
  • Operate a pressure washer.
  • Operate various sizes and makes of forklifts.
  • Operate an overhead crane.
  • Wear a respirator.
  • Prepare and clean surfaces, re-tap holes, paint, to OEM condition 8. Disassemble, clean, and repair equipment.
  • Finishes, patches and repairs surfaces as needed, including emergency repairs
  • Keep work area clean and organized by practicing good housekeeping.

Under supervision, training could be provided to learn industrial painting. This would include the following duties:
  • Learning and maintain paint equipment
  • Removes paint and finishes; prepares surfaces for application of paint,
  • Identifies characteristics of surfaces to be coated and ensures proper preparation and application of coating
  • Mixes and matches paints, and other finishes; prepares materials and equipment used for a variety of applications
  • Applies various coatings including epoxy's, enamels, urethanes, paints, varnishes, stains lacquers to a variety of surfaces using high volume, low pressure airless, and conventional paint equipment
  • Checks for quality during the course of a job to ensure coating is applied according to specifications and to reduce re-work

Other Essential Duties
  • Maintains regular and consistent job attendance, comes to work on time
  • Follows and complies with IE Core Values. Including cardinal safety rules.
  • Follow and comply with IE safety program. Must maintain a safe and clean work area at all times
  • Provide assistance in the final assembly department by assembling and installing electrical components as needed.

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • High School or GED preferred. Completion of at least 10th grade education required, plus up to one-month related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a Valid Driver's License
  • The employee must consistently lift 20 lbs., frequently lift/move 40 lbs., occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform frequent heavy lifting and continual bending and standing on a concrete floor.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent; and draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be able to use computer to log in time and job hours.
  • Must possess valid OSHA forklift and Overhead Crane certification or ability to obtain such.
  • Must be able to pass a Pulmonary Functions Test to wear a respirator.
  • Must comply with and follow all IE safety programs, policies and procedures. Must operate and perform job duties in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to operate/work safely around machinery/moving equipment
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Peripheral vision, Color Vision, Depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; stoop, kneel, crouch, or smell. The employee is occasionally required to walk and sit.

Work Schedule: Must be able to work a 40-hour work week and additional time as required.
