Job description

Find your calling at Mercy! Responsible for admitting, recovering and discharging of patients from the Cardiac Cath Lab. Provides follow-up.Demonstrates the ability to handle emergency situations during high risk proceduresIdentifies physical symptoms and changes and takes appropriate action in a timely manner.Demonstrates the ability to assess cardiorespiratory systems for changes in adult to geriatric patients and is able to treat appropriatelyObserves behavioral and physiologic changes due to medications; takes appropriate actions and documentsDemonstrates competence in preparing and cleaning of procedure rooms before and between cases and after terminal care.Demonstrates thorough knowledge of location, care and operation of all Cardiac Cath Lab equipment.Monitors the patient at all times; does not leave the room unnecessarilyDocuments patient data during the procedure (heart rate, blood pressure, respirations, all pressures, O2 saturation, EKG). Maintains procedure records.Ensures preop checklist is complete (H&P present, informed consent signed, test results present, prosthesis/dentures, contacts/glasses) before patient is taken into procedure room.Starts IVs; monitors IV fluids and patency of IVsMoves and transports patients safely.Counts narcotics at beginning and end of each shift with another RN per facility policy and procedure.Demonstrates the ability to educate patients and their families. Position Details:

Education: Registered Nurse, BSN preferred but not required.
Licensure: Registered Nurse or compact state licensure in the applicable state of practice.
Experience:
Certifications: ACLS, CPR
Physical Requirements: 
•    Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis. 
•    Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift. 
•    Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.

Preferred Experience: Minimum of 3 years fast paced cardiac, specials, and electrophysiology experience.
