Locum Tenens Nurse Practitioner - Cardiothoracic Surgery

Position Type: Locum Tenens
Specialty: Physician - Surgery - Cardiothoracic
Location: Mishawaka, IN
Shift: Varied

Position Details:

Patient Population: 10 outpatient; 5-8 inpatient patients per day

Setting: Hospital and Operating Room

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Surgery (First Assist)
  • Write Prescriptions
  • Rounding
  • Order Tests
  • Perform Pre-Op Physical Exams
  • Suture Removal
  • Vein Harvesting
  • Complete discharge summaries and documentation
  • Monitor therapies and medications
  • Chest tube removal
  • Pacing wire removal
  • Cardiac Rehab management
  • Nutritional and wound care management
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning
  • Respond to emergencies using CPR and ACLS protocols

Required Procedures:

  • Vein Harvesting using the Maquet System
  • First Assist in Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Suture Removal
  • Chest Tube Removal
  • Pacing Wire Removal

EMR System: EPIC

Support Staff: Attending Cardiothoracic Surgeons

Days Per Month:

  • Monday-Friday: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

On-Call/Weekends:

  • Night Call: Monday-Friday, 4:00 PM - 7:00 AM
  • Weekend Call: Saturday & Sunday, 24 Hours (7:00 AM - 7:00 AM)

Submission Requirements:

  • Indiana License
  • AANP Certification
  • Experience in Maquet Vein Harvesting
  • Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination
  • Self-Query NPDB Report within 30 days of presentation
