Position Overview

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall performance and profitability of the location, including the car wash, convenience store (c-store), and oil center. This individual will ensure customer satisfaction, operational excellence, and employee development while maintaining compliance with all company policies and procedures.


Key Responsibilities

 

Customer Experience & Satisfaction

  • Foster a customer-centric environment with a strong focus on satisfaction.
  • Promptly identify and resolve customer concerns and complaints.
  • Ensure all employees understand and deliver on the Car Spa customer service standards.


Team Management

  • Supervise and support all location staff, including car wash, c-store, and oil center employees.
  • Hire, train, and develop team members and managers to improve performance and build bench strength.
  • Maintain adequate staffing levels while minimizing turnover.
  • Optimize labor by scheduling based on volume and business needs.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, policies, and updates.
  • Promote a positive, professional, and compliant work culture.


Store Operations

  • Oversee all daily operations and ensure operational compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed and conduct regular safety training and meetings.
  • Respond to equipment or system malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-functioning facility across all departments.
  • Manage inventory and vendor relationships to ensure adequate supplies and cost control.
  • Monitor fuel operations and inventory (if applicable).
  • Review timecards daily to ensure payroll accuracy.
  • Control operational costs including chemicals, utilities, and labor.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, including safety logs, inventory, and incident reports.
  • Minimize losses due to theft, vehicle damage, or other preventable incidents.


Financial & Administrative Accountability

  • Responsible for achieving and exceeding profitability targets.
  • Review and manage budgets and P&L statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of administrative tasks per Car Spa policies and procedures.
  • Analyze operational data to identify areas of improvement and implement strategic actions.


Work Environment

  • Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must navigate around moving vehicles safely and maintain situational awareness at all times.
  • Regular physical activity including bending, reaching, stooping, and stepping in/out of vehicles.
  • Required to wear protective gear including safety goggles, gloves, bump cap, etc., as per safety guidelines.


Qualifications

  • Experience in retail car wash or automotive service environment strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing 20–50 variable-hour employees.
  • Comfortable in a high-volume retail setting with 50–100 transactions per hour.
  • Demonstrated ability in budgeting, cost control, and P&L management.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions to improve operations.
