Job description


Position Overview

Primarily responsible for the preparation of the race hauler on a weekly basis and driving the race car transporter to and from the track, wind tunnel, NASCAR inspections, etc. May require use of automated routing equipment. Requires commercial drivers’ license.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safely operates tractor trailer truck to and from events within weight laws and following all DOT safety regulations
  • Responsible for service and maintenance on truck
  • Clean, organize, restock, and load and unload the race car transporter
  • Drives the company vehicle, transporting company property, safely to events and tests across the country
  • Checks vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order
  • Follows appropriate safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods
  • Safely secure cargo for transport
  • Maintains driver logs of working hours, as well as perform and document pre-trip and post trip inspections
  • Manages transporter emergency situations, including but not limited to, flat tires, mechanical failures, etc.
  • Reports accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles to supervisor as soon as possible
  • Collaborates with other drivers as part of a driving team on some trips
  • Responsible for ensuring transporter falls within DOT standards for service and compliance
  • Provides at track and race team support during races
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager



Required Skills, Experience and Abilities

To perform the job successfully, you should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • 4+ years of heavy load truck driving experience
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required
  • Current Commercial Driver’s License
  • Current DOT Health Certification
  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations relating to operating commercial vehicles
  • Ability to maintain up to date Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brake Endorsement
  • Ability to assess and react to situations in a fast-paced stressful environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Skills to work independently, and operate well under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to identify and propose solutions to complex issues
