Job description

Overview

UIC Car Rental is seeking a Car Rental Agent responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and readiness of rental vehicles, assisting customers with reservations and check-ins, and performing basic vehicle servicing. This position also supports administrative functions such as service recordkeeping and weekly financial logs.

Responsibilities

Essential functions will include:

  • Clean and detail vehicles; perform regular exterior and interior washes.

  • Refuel returned vehicles and prepare them for next rental.

  • Conduct basic vehicle maintenance (oil/filter changes, minor tire repairs).

  • Check in returned rentals; assist customers with reservations and checkouts

  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle servicing and usage.

  • Support the manager with weekly financial logs for accounting.

  • Unlock and stage vehicles for customers or company use.

Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise:

  • Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.

  • Ability to observe and identify vehicle condition and maintenance needs.

  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

  • Reliable, self-motivated, and safety-conscious.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Experience in customer service

  • Basic knowledge of oil changes and tire repair/replacement

  • Employee must have a valid driver's license and three (3) year clean driving record.

  • Must successfully pass a background check.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing 50 lbs or more.

  • Requires physical stamina and the ability to perform manual tasks for extended periods.

  • Must remain alert and focused while working independently or under time pressure.

Working Conditions:
