Locksmith Technician Key Responsibilities

  • Make car keys on site for customers using company‐provided equipment and materials (cutting and programming keys, remotes, and fobs).

  • Install, repair, modify, and open a variety of locking mechanisms in vehicles and residential properties.

  • Perform non‐destructive door openings and lockout services for vehicles and homes whenever possible.

  • Make new or duplicate keys using a key‐cutting machine and perform rekeying services for residential locks.

  • Diagnose and resolve issues on the job with minimal supervision, using sound troubleshooting and attention to detail.

  • Follow verbal and written instructions accurately, including work orders in our dispatch system.

  • Safely operate hand tools and power‐hand tools in and around customer vehicles and homes.

  • Attend training sessions as scheduled and apply new skills in the field.

Locksmith Technician Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Knowledge of basic hand tools and the ability to learn new technical skills quickly on the job.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with a customer‐first mindset.

  • Valid state driver’s license with no major infractions.

  • Reliable vehicle suitable for carrying tools and equipment (company vehicle may be provided after a successful probationary period and good driving record).

  • Ability to work as a 1099 subcontractor and manage your time responsibly.

Locksmith Technician Preferred Requirements (higher pay for experience)

  • Locksmith certification or formal locksmith training.

  • Previous experience working as an automotive or residential locksmith.

  • Strong automotive key skills (transponder, remote, and fob programming).

  • Existing experience working in the field as a mobile technician
