Position Overview
The Shift Lead role at Spotless Brands is an operational support position designed to provide high performing team members with exposure to site operations and foundational leadership skills. This role is not a managerial position and does not carry decision-making authority or formal leadership responsibilities. The Shift Lead supports the Site Manager and/or Assistant Manager by ensuring effective execution of daily operations during assigned shifts. Responsibilities focus on maintaining operational standards, directing workflows, and supporting team productivity, safety, and customer service. As a key holder, the Shift Lead may assist with opening and closing procedures under the guidance of site leadership.
This position is ideal for individuals seeking to develop hands-on operational experience and prepare for potential future leadership opportunities. The role emphasizes execution, team support, and operational oversight - without involvement in staffing decisions, disciplinary actions, or strategic decision-making.
Essential Functions (Other Duties as Assigned)
  • Supports site leadership by executing assigned operational tasks; does not participate in managerial decision- making or formal leadership duties
  • Provide direction to team members during shifts as delegated by site management, ensuring adherence to established procedures and standards
  • Escalate all staffing, customer service, or operational issues requiring judgement or discretion to the Site Manager or Assistant Manager
  • Greet and engage customers with professionalism and enthusiasm, promoting membership programs and special promotions
  • Demonstrate and maintain in-depth knowledge of car wash packages, pricing, promotions, and processes
  • Safely operate and train others on the use of car wash equipment and chemicals
  • Monitor and guide vehicle entry and exit procedures to ensure safe, damage-free customer experiences
  • Delegate team members to appropriate workstations and monitor for efficiency and quality output
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and upkeep of the facility, including vacuum stations, equipment rooms, restrooms, and outdoor areas
  • Performs routine cleaning and maintenance tasks including but not limited to pit cleaning, vacuum bag/ station cleaning, tunnel upkeep, dumpster cleaning, and removal of debris, to ensure a safe, clean, and operational car wash environment
  • Performs duties as assigned, including operational and cleaning tasks that support site, shop, or store upkeep
  • Conduct quality control checks on both interior and exterior cleaning standards
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures strictly per company protocols; financial handling and site security are performed under management direction
  • Serve as a keyholder; assist in opening/closing procedures including securing the site
  • Address customer issues or escalate concerns to management as needed
  • Model and enforce adherence to company policies, safety procedures and operating standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support site operations
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, not required
  • Previous leadership experience in a customer-facing or operational environment (retail, car wash, ) preferred
  • Must be at least 16 years of age (or older where required by law or safety regulations)
  • Valid driver's license preferred (may be required depending on location and responsibilities)
  • Must meet all required certification and regulatory compliance standards applicable to the role as defined by federal, state, and local laws
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check in accordance with company policies and applicable laws
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge
  • Understanding of basic customer service principles and practices
  • Familiarity with car wash packages, pricing, promotions, and process flow and willingness to learn
  • Awareness of safety protocols and chemical handling procedures

  • Ability to twist, carry, reach, push, and pull frequently
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds without assistance for work-related materials
  • Ability to work outdoors and be efficient in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work on your feet in a fast-paced, physically active environment
  • Use of personal protective equipment (gloves, eyewear, etc.. ) as required
  • Must be able to work in an environment with varying noise levels, including loud sounds from machinery, tools, or high-traffic areas
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, as business needs or emergencies arise
