Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Courtesy Shuttle Driver will provide transportation to Willow Landing residents. Transportation will be provided using the RUPCO-owned shuttle buses. The bus is equipped with disability accessible options to be able to transport residents with and without mobility impairment. The buses will run a local looped route throughout the day to drop off and pick up residents at medical appointments, legal appointments, benefits appointments, food shopping, health and wellness activities, and other neighboring places that will help contribute to the residents? independent and healthy living. This position is full time with benefits. Hours may be flexible.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greeting residents who are using courtesy transportation in a friendly and welcoming manner
  • Interact and assist residents with boarding and exiting the bus
  • Abide by all road rules to include all NYS laws regarding operation of a motor vehicle.
  • Responsible for making sure all passengers are safe and using appropriate safety belts and safety equipment designated for wheelchairs and other mobility devices
  • Conduct pre-ride inspections of the bus
  • Conduct a basic cleaning of buses after every run and a more thorough cleaning at the end of each shift
  • Maintain an activity log of daily mileage, number of passengers, drop off and pick up locations
  • Report any traffic incidents immediately to management. Complete proper reports as required.
  • Call police to respond to ALL motor vehicle accidents despite the severity of the incident. A police report must be filed or documented in the law enforcement blotter as per Agency Auto insurance requirements.
  • Report all conflicts or situations that transpire with tenants during travel on the bus
  • Other duties as assigned

Health, Safety, & Compliance

  • NYS Driver's License Required
  • Maintain and operate the vehicles in a clean, organized, and safe manner
  • Conduct daily inspections of vehicles and report maintenance needs
  • Assist in maintaining buses
  • Actively participate in health and safety practices and accident prevention
  • Ensure all accidents are reported to supervisor and properly documented
  • Use all required safety devices and personal protective equipment

Salary: $21 hourly

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma recommended

Experience:

  • 1 year of customer service experience preferred
  • Experience working with young people, seniors, and individuals with disabilities preferred

Skills

  • Clean/satisfactory driving record which is found acceptable by RUPCO auto insurance carrier which must be maintained throughout employment
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Friendly and Personable
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to modify or alter daily driving assignments as designated by supervisor to best serve the needs of the tenants as appropriate
  • Ability to follow and respect the rules of the program as designed by management.
  • Willingness to offer ideas and suggestions to management as part of the program ongoing development
  • Basic computer literacy for checking email and recording hours worked
