Assistant Cup Machine Operator

St. Charles, IL

Compensation Includes

  • Pay Range $21.57/hr - $26.97/hr + $1.00 shift differential for 2nd shift 

Available Shift

  • 2nd: 3:00pm - 11:00pm, Monday - Friday

Overview

Assistant Cup Operator position is responsible to Feeds WIP Blanks to cup machines and assist Cup Operator in all phases of operation of the cup machines.  Directly responsible for machine startups, shutdowns, clearing jams, making bottom stock splices, filling oil reservoirs, emptying scrap bins, sweeping, cleaning floors, and making minor machine adjustments. This position is in the line of progression to move up to an Operator. 

Responsibilities

  • Maintains operation of feed bed by consistently feeding WIP on the conveyors
  • Able to feed 5-7 conveyors continuously
  • Checks quality of WIP consistently and sorts out bad WIP. Notifies Operator of wrinkled stock, excessive offset or haze, ink spots, misregister, or excessive scrap. Recognizes all applicable defects and reports these to the Cup Operator
  • Knows how to properly start and stop machines and clears jams
  • Reads and understands job jackets to ensure correct materials are being used and ready for each job
  • Ensures that the oil reservoirs are filled
  • Makes bottom stock splices and inspects cups after splice is made
  • Knows how manually web the bottom stock
  • Knows where standards are located and follows the standards
  • Empties scrap bins
  • Sweeps floor and maintains housekeeping throughout the shift
  • Help cover Packers for breaks as necessary
  • Knowledge of appropriate lockout/tag out procedures as necessary
  • Is responsible for using safety interlock system and keys
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area
  • Spotting for scissor lift operation
  • Help train new assistants

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree
  • 1 years related experience
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
