Caprock Academy is seeking an Assistant Ice Hockey Coach. Caprock Academy is a public, tuition-free school chartered by the Colorado Charter School Institute and utilizes the timeless principles of classically oriented education.ย 


Caprock Academy follows the Core Knowledge curriculum in grades K-8. This curriculum encompasses language arts, mathematics, science, history, geography, fine arts, and physical education. The curriculum is characterized by content-rich instruction, cumulative knowledge, content-specific lessons, and coherent sequencing. The foundation of our academics are rooted in classical education philosophy and pedagogy, following the grammar, logic and rhetoric trivium. The school's mission is to help all students achieve their highest academic and character potential using proven, accelerated academic programs while providing a safe environment. This mission is achieved through our vision of strengthening the community through the involvement of parents, educators, and community leaders working together to provide an environment that fosters academic excellence and develops strong character in our students. FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, non-exempt

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular, casual

HOURS WORKED: 15-20 per week during the sport season

Pay: Stipend $600-$1,200

REPORTS TO: Head Coach and Athletic Director


Essential Duties

  • Support the student athlete as a whole and assist with academic needs throughout the season.
  • Supervision and coaching of student athletes at each level of the program for the duration of the high school season.
  • Report to Head Coach and Athletic Director
  • Communicate with the Head Coach, Athletic Director, and Athletic Operations Coordinator about student athlete needs, incidents, and all concerns related to the program.
  • Follow guidelines for communication and behavior in the Family Handbook and the Athletics and Activities Handbook regarding:
  • Eligibility at Caprock
  • Prioritizing academics
  • Partnering with families
  • Communicating with tact
  • Building strong young people through example
  • Assist in developing a schedule, fundraisers, camps, awards banquets, etc. that includes off-season tasks
  • Direct and supervise instructional and conditioning camps throughout the year.
  • Communicate proactively with coaching staff, athletes, parents, and the community.
  • Assist in supporting the student athlete with information concerning scholarships, financial aid, college recruitment, etc.
  • Follow school, league, district, and CHSAA policies and regulations.
  • Demonstrate and maintain professional and courteous relations with the community on behalf of Caprock Academy.ย 


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Previous varsity or collegiate coaching/playing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in program growth and student athlete success.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of the skills involved with this sport.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills including the ability to mediate arguments and give constructive criticism.
  • Have, or have the ability to obtain, certification through CHSAA.
  • Excellent goal setting and team building skills.
