Position Summary

The Center for Workforce Development (CWD) is seeking a knowledgeable and engaging CAPM Instructor to prepare students for the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) and Professional Project Manager (PMP) exam. You will be responsible for breaking down the PMBOK Guide framework into digestible lessons, covering everything from fundamental project lifecycles to Agile methodologies and business analysis. Your goal is to ensure students not only pass their certification but also gain the practical confidence to kickstart their careers in project management.
CWD non-credit instructors report to the Director of the Community Learning Center. Instructors are responsible for course development, teaching and classroom management. Instructors are expected to assist with marketing their classes, with approval for all marketing from the Community Learning Center Director.
San Juan College may approve remote or hybrid work for adjunct employees within New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Texas (states subject to change at any time). All requests for remote work must be approved in advance by the Dean and Human Resources. Remote work options for locations outside of the United States are not permitted.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Certification:ActiveCAPMandPMPcertification in good standing.
  • Education:Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Experience:3+ years of project management experience and at least 1 year of teaching, corporate training, or public speaking.
  • Technical Knowledge:Deep fluency in thePMBOK Guide(latest edition) and familiarity with project tools like MS Project, Jira, or Trello.
  • Access to home internet, a personal computer, and telephone is required.
  • Demonstrates skill and willingness to learn and use multiple technology platforms to communicate with students.
  • Train the Trainer (TTT): Instructors must complete and pass the PMI Authorized Training Partner TTT session for the PMP course.
  • Official Courseware: ATP instructors are required to use the PMI-developed licensed course content and slides.
  • Authorized Badge: After passing the TTT exam, instructors receive a specific Authorized Training Partner Instructor badge.
