Fann Contracting, Inc., a family-owned heavy-civil construction company headquartered in Prescott, Arizona, is seeking a highly experienced Director of Project Management to lead and oversee our project management department. This is a key leadership position responsible for ensuring consistent project implementation and execution, financial performance, scheduling discipline, and team development across a diverse portfolio of heavy-civil infrastructure work.
The Director of Project Management is responsible for leading and overseeing the project management function across multiple heavy-civil construction projects. This role provides executive-level leadership on high-priority work and ensures projects are delivered in compliance with contract requirements, budget, schedule, quality, and safety standards.
The ideal candidate brings 15+ years of experience managing complex public and private construction projects, a proven ability to lead and mentor project management teams, and deep expertise in heavy-civil operations. This position works closely with operations, estimating, field leadership, and executive management to drive consistent, high-performing project execution.
Minimum Education, Experience & Training:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (required)
  • Minimum of 15 years of construction project management experience
  • Significant experience delivering DOT, FAA, FHWA, Public Works, and similar agency projects
  • Experience managing both public agency and private commercial/residential construction projects
  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing project management teams
  • Strong knowledge of heavy-civil project controls, contract administration, and cost management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and teams in a fast-paced environment

  • Provide oversight of project planning, budgeting, forecasting, job cost management, and schedule adherence
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, agency standards, and internal procedures
  • Support project teams with execution strategies, issue resolution, and problem-solving
  • Oversee contract administration, including prime and subcontract reviews, change management, claims prevention, and risk mitigation
  • Support preconstruction efforts, including plan and specification reviews, risk assessments, scheduling, budgeting, and project setup
  • Monitor project performance and proactively address cost, schedule, quality, safety, and compliance issues
  • Collaborate with operations leadership to drive consistency and performance in project execution
  • Coordinate closely with estimating, field leadership, and executive management
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, agencies, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
  • Mentor and develop project management staff and promote a culture of accountability and results
  • Conduct performance evaluations for project management personnel
  • Oversee project closeout processes and ensure complete documentation and archiving
  • Support mid-project and post-project lessons learned initiatives
