The Commissioning Manager Works on unusually complex problems and provides solutions that are highly innovative and ingenious. Applies advanced principles, theories and concepts. Helps to contribute to the development of new principles and concepts. Is a recognized authority in the field
Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the overall commissioning program across all disciplines (electrical, mechanical, controls, fire protection, life safety, IT/low-voltage).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Commissioning Plan, including scope, schedule, roles, and acceptance criteria.
  • Serve as the single point of accountability for commissioning execution and performance.
  • Review design documents to ensure commission ability, operability, maintainability, and alignment with Owner's Project Requirements (OPR).
  • Participate in design and constructability reviews to identify risks, gaps, and coordination issues.
  • Validate system sequences of operation and control strategies.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities with construction schedules and project milestones.
  • Review and approve commissioning-related submittals, method statements, and test plans.
  • Verify system installations comply with design intent, codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute pre-functional inspections for all systems.
  • Develop, review, and approve Functional Performance Test (FPT) and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) scripts.
  • Lead functional and integrated testing under normal, emergency, and failure scenarios.
  • Coordinate multi-discipline testing between electrical, mechanical, controls, and life safety systems.
  • Interface with vendors and specialty contractors to support FATs, SATs, and site testing.
  • Witness and validate factory and site acceptance testing.
  • Track, manage, and close commissioning deficiencies and punch list items.
  • Enforce commissioning safety procedures, including LOTO and live-testing protocols.
  • Conduct risk assessments for commissioning and integrated testing activities.
  • Maintain complete commissioning documentation, test records, and deficiency logs.
  • Provide regular commissioning status reports to project stakeholders.
  • Verify completeness and accuracy of O&M manuals, as-builts, and turnover documentation.
  • Coordinate and validate owner and operator training.
  • Support system turnover, early operations, and warranty phase activities.
  • Interface with owners, design teams, construction managers, and AHJs.
  • Support final acceptance, occupancy approvals, and project closeout.
  • Ensure commissioning activities comply with applicable industry standards and best practices.
  • Capture lessons learned and support continuous improvement of commissioning processes.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 7+ years of experience with a Master of Science degree in Engineering
  • Applicants selected must be willing to travel to customer sites.
  • Travel up to 100% may be required.

Certifications:
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT/FE)

Preferred but not required:
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • License Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
  • Certified in Power Quality (CPQ)
  • Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED)
  • Lighting Certified (LC)
