Principal Associate, Assessments & Team Effectiveness, Enterprise Learning

Capital One's Enterprise Learning & Development (L&D) team is seeking a Principal Associate, Assessments & Team Effectiveness, to serve as a Program Manager partnering with learning consultants to analyze, identify and recommend learning experiences for people leaders and teams across Capital One. As a member of L&D's Horizontal Operations team, you will orchestrate strategic and tactical delivery of our Assessments and Team Effectiveness Portfolio, managing day to day operations, partnering with 3rd Party Suppliers, and working across the organization to deliver learning solutions that meet business imperatives.

We are seeking a dedicated and disciplined learning professional who excels in a team environment. This person will have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and can adapt to change quickly. The ideal candidate is strong at influencing others, including organizational leaders and strategic partners. In this position, you will contribute immediately through analyzing our current assessments portfolio and partnering with leaders and peers to determine our go-forward suite of offerings, all while managing the current portfolio and experiences.

  • A strategic learning partner that stays current with emerging trends in both the talent development and technology spaces; and can balance long-term learning vision with operational excellence and delivery rigor.

  • An exceptional program manager with experience implementing and maintaining learning portfolios or organizational development tools that support the engagement of effective teams

  • An effective communicator, showcasing strong written and verbal communication and an ability to influence partners and leadership

  • A solutions-oriented problem solver, who anticipates emerging needs and operational roadblocks, raising issues and proposing solutions proactively, and a proven ability to bring structure to ambiguity, managing multiple priorities effectively.

  • A proactive team player who actively shares best practices, identifies efficiencies, and fully participates in team ceremonies.

What your day to day will look like:

  • Recommend, implement, and maintain assessments and team effectiveness offerings to support teams with collaboration, norming, planning, and team building

  • Co-create a strategy and needs analysis for third party vendors in this space, with clear recommendations for measuring results and return on investment

  • Consult and collaborate with stakeholders to identify gaps and emerging needs grounded in data insights

  • Establish close working relationships with several key functions across the L&D team (facilitation, vendor management, budget management, operations) to ensure seamless delivery of assessment learning needs

  • Build and manage the assessments portfolio and suite of offerings, managing vendor relationships, and updating the content as needed

  • Analyze data (i.e. participation trends and feedback) to provide recommendations and insights to support the portfolio's strategy development and offerings

  • Partner with identified stakeholders to align learning efforts to various organizational/business imperatives

Here is what you need to be successful:

  • Proven ability to navigate across a large organization to drive change and influence on-time deliverables across multiple job functions (ie. Learning Consultants, Program Managers, Learning Leaders)

  • An understanding of how a large-scale L&D or Talent Development organization functions from client intake to end solution (internally built or external vendor) to expedite the delivery of world-class learning solutions while remaining fiscally and resourcefully responsible

  • A passion for leveraging learning solutions and assessment tools to drive talent and organizational development

  • Showcase an openness to diverse viewpoints and perspectives to drive consensus on solutions that align with the organization's standardization efforts

  • Ability to work with minimal oversight, delivering high-quality results on-time

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in program management, learning delivery, or talent assessment/development

  • At least 2 years of experience using or managing team effectiveness models and tools such as the Tuckman model, the Lencioni model, CliftonStrengths, SDI (Core Strengths), MBTI, DiSC, Hogan or other team or personality assessments

  • At least 1 year of experience facilitating assessment debriefs or workshops

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in Learning & Development, Educational Consulting, or I/O Psychology

  • 3+ years of experience in Business Process Management or Project Management

  • Certification in CliftonStrengths, SDI (Core Strengths), MBTI, DiSC, or other team or personality assessments

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $108,900 - $124,300 for Learning Consultant


Richmond, VA: $98,900 - $112,900 for Learning Consultant










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
