Surgical Registered Veterinary Technician

The surgical Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) is responsible for providing high quality nursing care, assisting surgeons and anesthesia teams, and ensuring safe and efficient patient care throughout the surgical process. Solano-Napa Pet Emergency Clinic has been providing Emergency and Specialty Veterinary services to the Solano and Napa counties since 1985. Our hospital is dedicated to providing compassionate, state-of-the-art emergency care for pets. At SPEC we care for each pet as if they were a member of our family.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for surgery and assist with anesthesia monitoring
  • Assist surgeons during procedures and patient recovery
  • Provide post-operative nursing care and treatments
  • Communicate patient updates and concerns to the Surgery Lead
  • Maintain clean, organized surgical and recovery areas
  • Follow all safety, anesthesia, and surgical protocols
Client Service
  • Support clear, compassionate client communication as directed
  • Assist with patient discharge instructions and follow-up care
  • Teamwork & Professional Expectations
  • Work collaboratively with surgeons, Surgery Lead, and team members
  • Maintain professionalism and calm demeanor in a fast-paced environment
  • Participate in training, meetings, and continuing education
Qualifications
  • Veterinary Technician or Assistant experience required
  • Surgical or anesthesia experience preferred
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and patient care skills
  • Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and restrain patients up to 40 lbs, stand and walk for extended periods, and safely work in a surgical environment.
