Become Part of the Nightmare

Castle Dark is looking for creative, energetic, and talented Makeup Artists to help transform our performers into terrifying monsters for our Halloween event!

As a Monster Makeup Artist, you'll be part of the team that brings the creatures of Castle Dark to life. From gruesome wounds and creepy characters to horrifying faces and full monster transformations, you'll help create the look that makes our guests scream.

What You'll Do

  • Apply theatrical, special-effects, and Halloween makeup to performers
  • Transform actors into monsters, creatures, and other terrifying characters
  • Create wounds, bruises, scars, blood effects, and other spooky details
  • Work with prosthetics, face paint, body paint, and makeup products
  • Follow established character designs while bringing your own creativity to the process
  • Complete makeup efficiently before performers enter the attraction
  • Touch up performers throughout the night as needed
  • Properly clean and sanitize makeup tools and work areas
  • Help maintain a fun, professional, and energetic backstage environment

What We're Looking For

  • Makeup experience is a plus, but Halloween/SFX experience is highly preferred
  • Creative and artistic personality
  • Experience with Airbrush
  • Comfortable working with theatrical and special-effects makeup
  • Able to work quickly while maintaining attention to detail
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
  • Comfortable working in a busy, spooky, and sometimes messy environment
  • Must be available for event nights starting Sept. 16th and Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Nov. 1st 
  • Portfolio or examples of previous makeup work are encouraged

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Typical entertainment and amusement park environment where you'll stand, walk, stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders for long periods of time. You'll work outdoors in various weather conditions and remain highly alert throughout your shift. You will wear assigned costumes for extended periods of time and perform in costumes that may have limited sight lines. You may carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 25 pounds or more. You will have frequent exposure to indoor and outdoor areas of the park, including variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, and other weather conditions. You will also have frequent exposure to constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, flashing lights, strobe lights, shadowy environments, and heavily populated areas.
