What does a CAPA manager do?

A CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) Manager is responsible for overseeing an organization's CAPA process to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements. They investigate quality issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive measures to prevent recurrence. CAPA Managers work closely with cross-functional teams to improve processes, maintain regulatory compliance, and enhance overall product or service quality.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CAPA manager?

To thrive as a CAPA Manager (Corrective and Preventive Action Manager), you typically need a background in quality assurance, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and experience with regulatory compliance, often supported by a degree in a science or engineering field. Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS), risk management tools, root cause analysis methodologies (such as 5 Whys or Fishbone diagrams), and industry certifications like Six Sigma or ISO 9001 are highly valued. Outstanding candidates demonstrate excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills to effectively drive cross-functional teams and ensure timely resolution of quality issues. These skills are crucial for identifying, addressing, and preventing compliance gaps or product issues, thereby maintaining high standards and avoiding costly regulatory penalties.

What are some common challenges a CAPA manager faces, and how are they typically addressed?

One common challenge CAPA Managers face is ensuring timely and thorough investigations into quality issues while coordinating input from multiple departments. Balancing the need for fast resolution with the rigor required for regulatory compliance can be demanding, especially in highly regulated industries like pharmaceuticals or medical devices. Successful CAPA Managers often address these challenges through clear process documentation, effective project management, and fostering strong collaboration among stakeholders. By leveraging root cause analysis tools and maintaining open communication, they help create a continuous improvement culture that benefits both the organization and its customers.

Company Overview:
Momentous is a dynamic, fast-growing human performance company offering the highest quality supplements designed to enhance physical and cognitive well-being. At Momentous, we believe that people at their best will produce a positive impact in their personal lives, communities, and, ultimately, the world. No matter our customer's goal or what they want to achieve, we are on a relentless quest to help them get there. We work with some of the greatest minds in science and athletic performance who tap into the latest research and real-world experience to create a portfolio of products designed with one common goal-to help our customers be their best.
What we're proud of:

  • Best in the field. We have built an advanced network of world-renowned experts in the field of human performance.
  • Trusted and used by the best. We are honored to work with more than 150 teams in professional and NCAA sports, including Stanley Cup Champions, Tour de France winners, and all NFL Teams.
  • Push what's possible. Named to the prestigious Inc. 5000 list three years in a row (#392 in 2025) as one of the fastest-growing companies in the US. Ranked #4 in the Rocky Mountain Region in 2025.

Position Summary:

Momentous is seeking a Quality Systems Manager to help build, implement, and continuously improve a scalable Quality Management System for a fast-growing dietary supplement company. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating structure from ambiguity, translating requirements into practical workflows, and partnering across the business to make quality part of everyday operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  •   Own core QMS processes, including complaints and investigations, CAPA, risk management, document control, training, supplier oversight, and quality metrics.
  •   Develop and improve practical SOPs, workflows, forms, and tools as the organization grows.
  •   Support qualification, performance monitoring, quality agreements, audits, and escalation for contract manufacturers, laboratories, suppliers, packaging partners, and distribution providers.
  •   Lead or support complaint investigations, deviations, OOS/OOT events, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and effectiveness checks.
  •   Partner with Product, Supply Chain, Customer Success, Regulatory, Operations, and external partners to clarify roles and improve information flow.
  •   Maintain trackers and dashboards, identify trends and risks, and support management review and inspection readiness.
  •   Help implement and optimize eQMS, workflow automation, and data tools.

Qualifications:

  •   Bachelor's degree in Quality, Science, Engineering, Operations, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
  •   Approximately 7-10 years of progressive experience in Quality, Quality Systems, Compliance, or regulated operations.
  •   Working knowledge of dietary supplement, food, pharmaceutical, medical device, or a similarly regulated quality system; dietary supplement experience strongly preferred.
  •   Experience with SOPs, investigations, CAPA, risk management, supplier quality, audits, training, and document control.
  •   Demonstrated ability to independently own projects from concept through implementation.
  •   Strong written communication, project management, and data organization skills.
  •   Experience with outsourced ma

Who will thrive in this role:

The ideal candidate enjoys building rather than simply maintaining systems and is comfortable in a growing environment where priorities evolve and not every answer is known on day one.

  •   Positive, kind, and approachable-even when addressing difficult issues.
  •   Comfortable working through ambiguity and making sound, risk-based decisions with incomplete information.
  •   Curious, pragmatic, collaborative, and able to influence without formal authority.
  •   Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  •   Willing to roll up their sleeves while also designing scalable systems for the future
  •   A clear and empathetic communicator who builds trust.

Benefits:

  • Our fast-paced, high growth environment creates a strong opportunity for professional development born from evolving experiences
  • Competitive cash compensation plus employee stock options
  • Health/Vision/Dental
  • 401k Match
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Finish Line Fridays - finish at 3:00 every Friday
  • Generous set of observed holidays (18 days of office closure in 2026)
  • $1,000 annual perks program to support a high-performance lifestyle
  • Access to Momentous products and merchandise

Location:

This is a hybrid role based out of our Park City headquarters.
