Cascade AIDS Projectย (CAP) is the oldest and largest AIDS Service Organization (ASO) in Oregon and Southwest Washington that provides the LGBTQ+ community and beyond with compassionate healthcare. CAPโ€™s mission is to promote well-being and advance equity by providing inclusive health and wellness services for LGBTQ+ people, people affected by HIV, and all those seeking compassionate care. Cascade AIDS Projectย is excited to announce that we are hiring skilled and team-oriented Emergency Rent Assistance Coordinator. This individual works in CAPโ€™s Housing and Support Services department to provide services thatย include:ย completing emergency rentalย assistanceย applications and CAP intakes, providing information and referral, goal planning,ย advocacyย and eviction prevention services to people living with HIV.

This is a Full-Time role working at our Davis St location in the old town area of Portland The schedule for this role is Monday-Thursday 9:00am-5:00pm. This position will travel occasionally throughout the five-county service area for meetings. Evening and weekend workย isย sometimes required. This position is fully on-site.ย 

Starting pay is $31.85 an hour which is equivalent to just over $52,998.40.The Emergency Rent Assistance Coordinatorโ€™s pay increases with tenure and the top of the pay scale is $36.66. This is a union represented position, so the compensation, benefits and conditions of work are collectively bargained.

Who You Are

  • Two yearsโ€™ professional work experience in social servicesย 
  • Prior experience providing short term case management (or similar) servicesย 
  • Demonstrated computerย proficiencyย using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook) and working knowledge of the internetย 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skillsย 
  • Successful experience working with ethnic, racial,ย economicย and sexually diverse populations and persons who have experienced homelessness and/or persons with a mental illness and/or substance addictionย 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with community stakeholdersย 

What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Establish rapport with clients using a supportiveย strengths-based model that promotes client self-determination and independence.ย 
  • Complete emergency rentย assistanceย applications with clients and negotiate payment with clients and landlords.ย 
  • Complete comprehensive housing assessments, goal planning, linkage to services, and advocacy for and with clients.ย 
  • Schedule and complete intake assessments for clients who wish to engage in services at CAP. Create paper files for new CAP clients.ย 
  • Work in collaboration with medical case managers, medical providers, or other providers involved in client care, including other CAP staff to provide coordinated comprehensive care to PLWHA with a focus on housing stability.ย 
  • Makeย appropriate referralsย to mental health, substance abuse, HIV prevention, or other community partners as needed to support client self-sufficiency.ย
