Director Product Strategy and Marketing (Germantown)

JumpLights, Inc.

Germantown, MD • On-site

Full-time

This job post has expired today. Applications are no longer accepted.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead product strategy, develop product roadmaps, and oversee product marketing efforts.

  • Assess customer and market challenges, analyze competition, and collaborate with product development to create innovative product approaches.

  • Manage each product line throughout its lifecycle and develop marketing and communication programs to drive demand and increase market share.

Job description

Germantown, Maryland · On-site · Reports to CEO, John Peeler · Executive team · About 15 people and growing.

The Role

Lead product strategy, roadmap development, and product marketing for a patented ag-tech life sciences company.

For the past decade, JumpLights has built LED grow lights trusted by commercial cannabis and greenhouse growers, including the industry’s first purpose-built under-canopy fixture and a patented thermal architecture that powers its over-canopy lights. The company now ships across five product families and launches multiple new fixtures each year. JumpLights is seeking a Product Strategy and Marketing leader to own competitive analysis, product strategy, and product marketing.

This is a hands‑on leadership role at a rapidly growing, mission‑driven company. You will join the executive team, report directly to the CEO, and help shape the company’s next stage of growth.

If you are looking for a comfortable role at a large, established company, this is not the job for you. If you want to help define, build, and market products that growers rely on—and influence where JumpLights goes next— keep reading.

What You’ll Own
  • Assess customer and market challenges and unmet needs
  • Analyze competition to identify strengths, weaknesses and opportunities to win
  • Work with Product Development leaders to develop innovative approaches for breakthrough product performance
  • Develop a product portfolio strategy and product roadmap
  • Product Marketing:
  • Develop and execute marketing and communications programs that drive product demand, increase market share, and strengthen brand value.
  • Write white papers to convey technology and product benefits and build company credibility
  • Represent the company at conferences and technical events to build market credibility and promote JumpLights’ products.
  • Product Lifecycle Management
  • Manage each product line across the full lifecycle, from concept and development through launch, growth, and retirement.
  • Company Strategy:
  • Collaborate with the executive team to refine and advance the company’s overall strategy.
What you need
  • Education. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, technology, or a related field, plus an MBA in marketing or another relevant discipline.
  • Experience. Ten or more years of experience in product marketing and/or business strategy for technology-based products in a business-to-business environment.
  • Track record. Demonstrated success developing and executing strategies that produced exceptional products, leading market share, and strong financial performance.
  • Communication skills. Strong ability to communicate product value clearly and persuasively to customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
What will set you apart
  • Startup temperament. Comfortable with ambiguity, small teams, and hands‑on work. You have operated in this environment before—or you are eager to do so.
  • Ag-tech curiosity. Experience in horticultural or agricultural technology, or a strong interest in learning the market quickly.
  • Executive presence with humility. You are ready to earn the trust of the team over time, contribute at the leadership level from day one, and grow into a larger role as the company grows.
  • Strategic and operational execution. Ability to define long‑term strategy while driving near‑term execution and measurable progress.
Why this role
  • The portfolio. Own the full product portfolio strategy at a category-defining hardware company with real customers, patents, and momentum.
  • The seat. Join the executive team, report to the CEO, and be part of JumpLights’ long-term succession plan.
  • The upside. Participate in the company’s success through equity, base salary, and bonus.
  • The work. Shape products used by real growers in the field.
  • The culture. Join a learning culture where the best idea wins.
Compensation and location

Base salary, performance bonus, and meaningful equity. Relocation support if necessary. JumpLights sets pay based on your experience, skills, and qualifications.

This role is based in Germantown, Maryland.
