Job description

Are you looking to advance your professional journey with a premier global manufacturing leader? As Canon Virginia evolves into the Regional Technical Headquarters for the Americas, we are pursuing an energetic and focused Chemical/ Material Engineer to join our corporate family. Our pioneering organization is growing at a rapid pace, and we are excited to find the ideal candidate for this role.
Within this role, your primary objectives will include supporting new material development by researching and developing new materials, components/assemblies, methods, and/or processes utilizing engineering and scientific principles.Leads interdisciplinary engineering/scientific teams in the development, formulation, design, and build of new materials that meet project objectives for quality, cost and delivery. Leads project and product risk analysis efforts. Generates and advises other team members on intellectual property protection.
The pay range for this position is $96,720 - $121,900 | FLSA: Exempt
- Assist with creating product/process specifications and requirements.
- Performs thorough experiments and evaluations to aid down-selection of concepts to achieve integrated concepts.
- Troubleshoots more complex technical issues. Investigates issues, identifies root cause and develops countermeasures to prevent future occurrence.
- Prepares proposals (including recommended suppliers, parts pricing, alternative implementation strategies, and timeline/schedule) for submission to customer. Provides guidance and answer technical questions during proposal meetings.
- Reviews technical reports prepared by less experienced Engineers/Scientists and provide feedback.
- Leads design reviews and offer suggestions and guidance for design/process improvements.
- Oversees various projects ensuring adherence to schedule, regulatory requirements, and meeting customer satisfaction.
- Approves and offers guidance to process/product changes and risk analysis.
- Provides guidance/mentorship to less experienced Engineers/Scientists regarding process/product/ or system.
- Act as subject matter expert in multiple processes and/or products.
- Advise on MOIs.
- Bachelors degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent Engineering degree and 8-12 years experience in research and development, product development, medical or related field.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and project management skills.
- Ability to create and present presentations and/or technical papers to upper management, customers, external scientific publications and/or at conferences.
- Ability to lead in a project team environment.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
