What you'll do

As a member of the Technical Office Engineering (TOE) you will contribute within the production environment, to the manufacturing and testing of the first cars featuring the pioneering Scout design and functionalities. Additionally, you will play a decisive role in transferring the lessons learned to product optimization activities and the later pre-series and series production line. In your role you will report to the Manager of the Engineering Office.ย ย

  • Assist in the development of theย Electrical Engineeringย System for Scout electric pick-up trucks and rugged SUVsย 
  • Be a part of the vision of engineering excellence & source of knowledgeย 
  • Be the central point of contact in the Production Center in Columbia/Blythewood for theย Vehicleย Software andย Electrical Engineeringย Systems team in Noviย ย 
  • Develop test environment, instrumentation strategies, responsible for creating stable and representative test environments to perform automated testing andย functional integration of distributed features.ย 
  • Collaborate with SW, HW teams, suppliers, function owners to ensure streamlinedย productionย integration and test implementation, trouble shootingย in test assets.ย 
  • Test bench integration across diverse systems, ECU's, control units, sensorsย and actuators into the Production system.ย 
  • Validates and troubleshoots simulator, automation solutions, vehicle systems withinย the Productionย environment for early detection and resolution/debug EEย system components HW/SW issues.ย 
  • Expertise with manual, automated test execution for SW, ECUs and wiring harness, analysis of testย results and generation of test reports per sprint scheduleย 
  • Leads continuous process improvements to expand automated testing scope, improve reliability and optimize execution.ย 
  • Testing experience using Hardware in the Loop equipment, software (e.g. dSpace, National Instruments), embedded controller networks (CAN, LIN) and the use of ECU diagnostic and network communication tools (e.g.ย CANoe, CANalyzer, Vehicle Spy)ย 
  • Design &ย createย withย collaboration,ย aย integration andย a testingย strategy that allows other teams to contribute and implement their necessitiesย 
  • Partner with other concept & systems architect teams to come up with solutions to engineering & functional challenges and issues coming up in the production processย 
  • Collaborate with suppliers and Scout cross-functional teams to ensure system components meet validation and testing requirements.ย 
  • Work with pre-series team to support the build process.ย 
  • Participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions to contribute innovative ideas that enhance system performance and fulfil production needs.ย 
  • Hands-on prototyping and building capability, from initial operation to coordinating and implementing softwareย 
  • Be involved in other related tasks / activities as requiredย 

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, South Carolina
  • This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.ย 
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the companyย from time to time.

  • Education/Certifications:ย Bachelor's or Master'sย degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, engineering management or a relevant fieldย 
  • 7+years of Experienceย requiredย in type of role: 5+ years of experience inย Mechatronics/EE/SW engineeringย and relevant automotive assignments.ย 
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skillsย 
  • Extensive experience working with Automotive Systems or Mechatronics Products, from Body, Infotainment, Drive or Energy.ย 
  • Strong understanding, development and verification of plant and control models in MATLAB/Simulink for execution in hardware in the loop test environment, dSpace control desk and automation deskย 
  • Familiarity with SW for embedded systems, EE systems and architectureย 
  • Familiarity with A2B, CAN, Automotive Ethernet, LIN, LVDS communication protocols and Vehicle Network tools, such as CANalyzer,ย CANoe, etc.ย 
  • Expertise with complex problem solving, data analysis, access/interpret/drive results with extended teams.ย 
  • Knowledge of Automotive design and development process, system requirements, and general engineering best practicesย 
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with a high level of integrityย 
  • Good knowledge of MS Office productsย 
  • The ability to build strong working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels.ย 
  • Advanced project steering and coordination skills to practice independent project management in a defined drive system scopeย

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial Base Salary Range: $110,000.00 - $135,000.00
