JOB OVERVIEW:

The Division of Community Health Services (CHS) is seeking a Dental Assistant applicant. CHS provides public health, primary care, and dental services in local health departments throughout the state. The Dental Assistant 2 provides patient-centered dental assistant services in accordance with Provider Practice Guidelines for Dental Public Health and the Tennessee Dental Practice Act. Applicants should be customer focused, self-motivated, team oriented, and willing to travel as needed, throughout the region.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Assembles dental supplies and instruments and ensures pertinent dental exam records are available prior to patient seating. Uses 4-handed technique while assisting dentist and disinfects operatory and sterilizes instruments after every dental patient treatment. Provides appropriate post treatment and education for patients.

· Manages and maintains equipment and supplies including autoclave, ultrasonic cleaner, and dental unit water lines. Monitors expiration dates and prepares dental supply orders per procurement guidelines.

· Exposes and prepares x-rays for review and meets infection control and safety guidelines.

· Assists in completion of patient dental health records (electronic and paper).

· Ensures accomplishment of daily productivity goals in alignment with the Tennessee Department of Health Model Dental Clinic guidelines. Manages priorities and individual efficiency to assist in meeting identified goals for encounters and Relative Value Units.

· Collaborates with local management to address clinic flow and staffing concerns.

· Maintains a positive, constructive, and cooperative work environment

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Possession of current registration as a dental assistant in the State of Tennessee with Dental Radiology Certification. This position requires a current driver's license, CPR certification and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Possession of certifications in coronal polishing, nitrous oxide monitoring and dental sealant placement.

DETAILS:

· Position is full-time, M-F 7:30-4:00 PM, location will be based in Cannon County (Woodbury) and will also travel to Warren County (McMinnville)
