What is a cannabis project manager?

A Cannabis Project Manager is a professional responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing projects within the cannabis industry. Their duties may include managing timelines, budgets, compliance with industry regulations, and communication between various teams such as cultivation, processing, and distribution. They ensure that projects are completed efficiently, on time, and according to legal and quality standards. This role often requires knowledge of both project management best practices and the unique aspects of the cannabis industry.

What are some unique challenges a cannabis project manager might face compared to project managers in other industries?

Cannabis Project Managers often encounter unique challenges due to the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape and strict compliance requirements specific to the cannabis industry. They must stay up to date with local, state, and federal laws, which can change frequently and impact project timelines or processes. Additionally, coordinating between cultivation, production, retail, and compliance teams requires strong cross-functional communication skills. Managing projects in this sector also involves navigating stigma or misconceptions about cannabis, making stakeholder management and transparent communication especially important.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a cannabis project manager?

To thrive as a Cannabis Project Manager, you need expertise in project management principles, regulatory compliance knowledge, and experience in the cannabis industry, often supported by a relevant degree or PMP certification. Familiarity with project management software (like Asana or Trello), cannabis tracking systems (such as METRC), and compliance databases is typically required. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills help build effective teams and maintain stakeholder relationships. These abilities are crucial for ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, legally, and successfully in a highly regulated and evolving industry.

Job description

Delivery Driver (Cannabis)

Mammoth Distribution is one of California's leading cannabis distributors, delivering top brands like Heavy Hitters and Papa & Barkley to dispensaries across the state. We're hiring a full-time Delivery Driver based in San Bernardino to run daily B2B delivery routes across the greater San Bernardino area. Each weekday, you'll drive a company-provided van into our North Hollywood HQ to pick up inventory, then deliver it to dispensary partners throughout San Bernardino, Riverside, Fontana, Rialto, Ontario, and surrounding Inland Empire communities. The company van is yours to keep overnight at home, so there's no separate commute vehicle needed. CDL not required. No cannabis experience requiredโ€”we provide training. If you have a clean record, strong customer service instincts, and are comfortable behind the wheel for extended shifts, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

  • Execute daily B2B deliveries to cannabis dispensaries across the San Bernadino area
  • Run long-haul routes averaging once per week to territories outside your normal radius
  • Manage inventory for all deliveries and product pick-ups from business partners
  • Occasionally handle payments for accounts receivable; follow SOPs to keep funds organized
  • Complete daily delivery reports and maintain accurate, meticulous paperwork
  • Collaborate with the sales team on delivery changes, product issues, and payment matters
  • Share product knowledge with dispensary partners as directed
  • Project a professional image and deliver outstanding customer service on every stop
  • Maintain company confidentiality at all times

What You'll Bring

  • Based in or near San Bernardino, CA, with willingness to commute daily to North Hollywood for inventory pick-up
  • Minimum 1 year of delivery, route driving, or long-haul driving experience; clean driving record required
  • Minimum 2 years of customer service experience
  • Box truck, Sprinter van, or cargo van experience preferred
  • CDL not required; cannabis industry experience a plus
  • Comfortable with delivery apps, GPS navigation, and inventory management systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive problem-solver with sound judgment and discretion
  • Flexible and adaptable - comfortable with a variable schedule and occasional overtime

Physical Requirements

  • Able to drive a van or box truck for 8-12+ hours daily
  • Able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to stoop, stretch, twist, and bend throughout the shift
  • Good vision and hearing; consistent, reliable, and punctual attendance required

Also relevant if you have experience as: Route Driver, Delivery Associate, Driver Helper, Courier, Sprinter Van Driver, Box Truck Driver, Local Delivery Driver, Route Delivery Driver, Commercial Driver (No CDL required), or Cannabis Driver.
