Job description

Company Description
Ayr Wellness is a leading U.S. multi-state cannabis operator with more than 90+ licensed retail locations across Florida, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Nevada, Virginia, and Delaware. We cultivate, manufacture, and sell a broad portfolio of high-quality cannabis products, proudly serving both medical patients and adult-use consumers across our markets.
 
  • Support the Pharmacist General Manager in executing all daily dispensary operations. 
  • Oversee opening and closing procedures, ensuring operational readiness. 
  • Ensure smooth execution of daily workflows including intake, order fulfillment, and patient flow. 
  • Monitor store performance throughout the day and escalate issues to leadership as needed. 
  • Maintain operational consistency across all retail touchpoints. 
    Please note: Current Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration/License in good standing, or ability to obtain and maintain registration as required by Virginia law.
Patient Experience & Service Support 
  • Ensure a high-quality, compliant patient experience at all times. 
  • Support patient intake, check-in flow, and order management (online, curbside, in-store). 
  • Monitor floor activity to ensure efficient service and minimal wait times. 
  • Coach team members on patient interaction standards, communication, and service expectations. 
  • Assist in resolving escalated patient concerns in partnership with leadership. 
Sales Floor Leadership 
  • Supervise dispensary pharmacy techs and support staff during assigned shifts. 
  • Ensure proper product knowledge execution and compliant product recommendations. 
  • Maintain sales floor readiness, including cleanliness, merchandising, and product presentation. 
  • Support leadership in driving key performance metrics. 
  • Reinforce operational priorities and daily goals with frontline staff. 
Inventory & Product Flow Support 
  • Support inventory control processes including receiving, stocking, and product movement. 
  • Assist in ensuring accurate product availability on the sales floor. 
  • Monitor product expiration dates and assist with rotation and organization. 
  • Support vault-to-floor transfers and inventory reconciliation activities. 
  • Escalate discrepancies or compliance concerns to PIC and Retail Leadership.
Compliance & Regulatory Support 
  • Ensure adherence to Virginia Cannabis Control Authority regulations and company SOPs. 
  • Reinforce compliance standards with staff on the retail floor. 
  • Support preparation for audits, inspections, and compliance checks. 
  • Monitor adherence to patient verification, purchase limits, and dispensing procedures. 
  • Immediately escalate any compliance concerns to the PIC. 
Operational Scheduling & Labor Support 
  • Assist with implementing staffing schedules created by leadership. 
  • Monitor daily staffing coverage and report gaps or inefficiencies. 
  • Support timekeeping accuracy, break compliance, and labor execution. 
  • Assist with time-off coordination and shift coverage as needed.
  • Support recruiting, interviewing, and hiring efforts to maintain appropriate staffing levels and support store talent strategy.
Team Leadership & Development 
  • Provide on-the-floor coaching and real-time feedback to team members. 
  • Support onboarding and training of new retail associates. 
  • Reinforce company culture, service standards, and operational expectations.
  • Facilitate ongoing product knowledge and compliance training to ensure staff maintain strong understanding of product offerings and regulatory requirements. 
  • Assist leadership in maintaining a positive, accountable, and engaged team environment.
  • Support development of retail team members through coaching, training, and leadership skill development.
  • Support performance management processes including coaching documentation, performance reviews, corrective action administration, and escalation of employee relations concerns to leadership and HR.
  • Foster an inclusive, engaged workplace culture through active communication, employee recognition, retention initiatives, and open-door leadership practices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of coaching conversations, performance concerns, and operational issues in accordance with company policies and standards.
  • Assist with planning, coordination, and facilitation of team meetings, leadership meetings, and operational communications.
Cash Handling & Operational Controls 
  • Support adherence to cash handling procedures and point-of-sale accuracy.
  • Support cash management activities including register audits, change fund management, till replenishment and cash accounting.
  • Ensure end-of-davy reconciliation processes and daily reporting are submitted accurately and timely in adherence with standard operating procedures
  • Escalate discrepancies or variances to leadership. 
 
Facility & Store Standards 
  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards are maintained. 
  • Support opening/closing facility checklists. 
  • Assist with safety and security procedures as directed by leadership. 
  • Report maintenance or safety issues promptly.
  • Rendor invoices are submitted to the appropriate departments for processing.
  • Perform other duties permitted for pharmacy technicians under Virginia law and assigned by the Pharmacist General Manager.
Qualifications 
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s preferred).
  • Current Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration/License in good standing, or ability to obtain and maintain registration as required by Virginia law. 
  • 2+ years of retail, healthcare, or regulated operations experience. 
  • Strong leadership or supervisory experience in a customer-facing environment. 
  • Understanding of retail operations and customer service principles. 
Preferred
  • Cannabis dispensary experience. 
  • Experience in regulated healthcare or pharmacy environment. 
  • Knowledge of Virginia cannabis compliance regulations.
  • Inventory or retail operations management experience
