Job description

Job Description
Facility Services Staff are responsible for cleaning the interiors and public areas of all buildings at in and around Biltmore House, Antler Hill Village, and/or other locations across the estate. Duties may also include: light maintenance for facilities (e.g. changing light bulbs, etc.); snow removal; emergency response and assistance; and general departmental support. Staff will also coordinate to provide assistance for special events and functions and will provide general support and assistance to the department, leadership, and company.
Essential Job Duties
1. Dust, mop, wet mop, and buff all wood/tile/linoleum/concrete/marble floors.
2. Vacuum/shampoo carpets and steps
3. Change light bulbs inside and outside.
4. Clean restrooms with high degree of cleanliness and detail to Biltmore standards.
5. Assist with special events, functions, and projects (e.g. Christmas candlelight).
6. Respond to power/water outages for report, or as an assistant to management
7. Snow removal.
8. Some storm cleanup
9. Emergency clean up (bodily fluids)
10. Dust offices and gift shops
11. Constant awareness of safety of self, guests, and co-workers
12. This position is responsible for performing the above duties during 2nd shift. The ability to work these hours as designated by leadership is an essential function of this position
Additional Responsibilities
1. Perform very minor maintenance work orders as assigned by management
2. Assistance with administration related to area operational activities.
3. Store, organize and maintain proper supplies and supply rooms
4. Work overtime, or different shift if required by management
5. Work from heights of at least 8'
6. Provide general support and assistance to the department, leadership, and company as required.
Qualifications
1. High school diploma (or GED). Additional education, training, and/or certification(s) preferred.
2. At least one (1) year of previous custodial/janitorial and/or maintenance experience. The ideal candidate will have had prior experience in the same or similar role in another guest service, attraction, or hotel/resort environment, preferably working either second or third shifts.
3. Outstanding attention to detail.
4. Demonstrated commitment to contributing to the delivery of world class guest service through providing clean and immaculate facilities for guest use.
5. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a guest service team.
6. Ability to safely operate commercial cleaning equipment, and to read and comprehend material safety data (MSD) sheets.
7. Ability to be proactive and take initiative where appropriate.
8. Ability to exercise good judgment.
9. Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work under deadlines.
10. Must have a valid driver's license and be at least 19 years of age.
Physical Requirements
1. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
2. Ability to stand/walk, stoop, bend, kneel, reach overhead and below throughout the duration of a shift.
3. Ability to climb ladder/scaffolding up to 8 feet.
4. Visual acuity and the ability to respond to a variety of stimuli appropriately.
5. Ability to work effectively with exposure to dust, dirt, foul odors, bodily fluids,
extreme temperatures and/or weather conditions, using the proper safety and protective equipment.
