Resource Navigator โ€“ Part Time

This is a hybrid position and will require both in-office (1 day) and remote work (2 days). One day, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and two days, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Salary - $28.29 per hour

CancerCare is the leading national organization dedicated to providing free, professional support services, including resource navigation, individual counseling, support groups, educational workshops, publications, and financial assistance to anyone affected by cancer.

CancerCare seeks a part-time Resource Navigator for either the New Jersey Regional Office or the New York National Office.

The New Jersey Regional Office is located at 1 Kalisa Way, Suite 205, Paramus, NJ 07652

The New York National Office is located at 485 Madison Ave, 10th Floor, New York, NY 10022

The Resource Navigator will be responsible for:

  • Providing immediate assistance and support to cancer patients, caregivers, and/or those who are bereaved, contacting CancerCare via a national toll-free Hopeline
  • Addressing client needs by conducting timely and effective Distress Thermometer, barrier assessments, and addressing presenting concerns based on the hierarchy of needs
  • Providing resource navigation via telephone to people with cancer
  • Locating financial/access to care programs for clients who are uninsured or underinsured
  • Utilizing knowledge of community resources to refer clients to appropriate services to ensure continuity and quality of care
  • Documenting all activities in a timely manner according to departmental protocols
  • Upholding the CancerCareย brand and philosophy
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree preferably in social work, human services, or psychology
  • Bilingual (Spanish-speaking) preferred but not required
  • Prior experience in a health-related environment, preferably with an oncology focus, customer service, or customer care role
  • An education and/or work background working with people coping with chronic and acute life-threatening illnesses such as cancer is helpfulย 
  • Must have prior experience utilizing cancer screening programs and navigation services
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written), highly organized with strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to write quickly, clearly, and compellingly
  • Proficiency in computer skills and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Zoom) as well as the ability to utilize multiple programs simultaneously
